If I'm reading that correctly there is no high pressure.. 250kpa is between 2 and 3 bar..you would need to see something approaching 200bar for the injectors to fire..

The DTC is pointing to a problem with the pressure sensor so it is very unlikely you'll get sensible and correct readings.
As stated several times now you need to establish that the ECM is getting sensible measurements from the sensor. |

Have you checked the engine loom to vehicle loom connector at the rear right of the engine, it would be behind the vcv and area younwere working in. Cheers

Hello Guys,
I just want to give you a brief update of my current situation. What I have done: -Replaced the VCV with now third one, a Denso VCV with positioning pins --> Problem remains -Replaced the Fuel-Pressure-Valve --> Problem remains -Checked the CPK-Sensor --> Engine Rpm available therefore failure can be excluded. Checked voltages: -Starter battery is done but still doesn't want to start with jump leads. -Error code P019015 only exists when the Fuel-Pressure-Sensor is unplugged, therefor I don't think this is the issue. I have now brought the Defender into an offroad workshop and will get news shortly. I will let you know ASAP. Regards Ben, a sad td4 owner[/list] |

So you actually haven't yet done what has now been suggested several times and investigate why you have an electrical fault in the pressure sensor circuit!
![]() Good luck, looking forward to hearing what the problem turns out to be. |

Hello again,
the error-message only should up when unplugged, otherwise the error-didn't appear. Yes, its hopefully not a financial ruin topic. Regards |

Yes, I'm afraid I missed that absolutely crucial piece of information which only came to light halfway down page 2 of the thread!
We'll still be interested to hear what your specialist comes up with and, as you say, hopefully it won't be major. |

Hey guys,
Failure = Defect High Pressure Pump The coincidence really puzzles me that 100km after replacing the VCV the high pressure pump fails... but anyways, it is fixed and cost me around €2.500. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Regards Ben |

Related question for anyone in the know, is there a repair kit or spring kit for the high pressure pump?
Apparently a certain spring could fail inside and render the high pressure pump kaputt. But if this spring can be replaced, the pump will work again. A friend of mine has resurrected 2.2 Ford Ranger fuel pumps this way. The cost of the spring is definitely cheaper than that of a new high pressure fuel pump. If such a thing exists for 2.4 high pressure pumps, would appreciate information on where to buy the springs. No Better Friend, No Worse Enemy |

I'm not aware that anyone sells internal parts for the 2.4 pump nor of anyone offering a pump repair service, unfortunately. If anyone knows otherwise it would be good to hear.
The 2.4 pump, being a two-stage pump with internal regulation is of necessity a precision item and quite complex, and hence not cheap. It is however generally pretty reliable and failures are few. |

You sort of answered your own question, and I'd be asking your friend where he sourced the spring.. Ive just been over to tyne electro diesel and they will service and repair these common rail pumps if its a matter of springs seals etc in so far as internal wear will allow them to be refurbished.. so it is and can be done , but the sticking point for most of us is the pumps are calibrated and tested on specialist machinery and without doing that after reassembley you couldn't be sure what you would get if you just replaced it after any work.. I enquired about piezo injectors while I was there.. They will clean and test them but faulty injectors are replaced.. no refurbish of them.. |
