C90. Thank you for your support and advice once again.
I did infact replace a CV only couple of years ago but cannot remember which side, is there a way to tell? I’ll be cleaning out and lubricating tomorrow but cannot find Ashcrofts HD flanges anywhere in stock. Any other reputable suppliers?

Keith.

Keith - If I was you I would change those DM’s ASAP, clean up and thoroughly grease.

Otherwise, if the splines get severely worn then you’ll need new CV’s etc, swivel grease won’t hurt as well anyway.
If you replace the DM’s with something like Ashcroft HD upfront, that’ll keep those in good stead.

Back on subject, yes, I agree with Zag.
Dinitrol, I’ve found to be excellent, and still is on mine.

I went for brown internal wax and black external, I use the black external often when replacing or changing things over, it just stops the elements getting at where it shouldn’t.

For the basics like black paint in some places, like bumpers etc just a little black paint and artists paint brushes work, especially if there is Powder Coat being a pain in visual areas.
For everything hidden though, black Dinitrol is ace, brown in cavities, ACF 50 on this that are visible.

Only thing is ACF 50 stinks, also keep it off of rubbers it doesn’t play nice with those, but is good for painted visible internal seatbox seams as an example.
As mentioned, I’d keep it away from plastics or rubbers though, it will perish those.
Painted surfaces or metals are fine though.

This is just my views and opinion, Zag is the expert here.

Funny I see this thread now, this week I’ve been cleaning out the dirt traps mentioned above!

Thumbs Up

C90, Hi
Iv just been told that actually HD flanges won’t fit on my Puma with standard Boost alloy wheels. I didn’t know this so maybe I’m stuck with basic flanges.

They do fit but you’ll need to change the fixings for hex cap head (allen) 12.9 grade and spring washers.

This is because the standard DM bolts can clash with the boosts, with the hex cap fixings it’s not an issue.
It was Blackwolf on here who I believe pioneered this, I followed suit as well and had no issues at all since.
The Ashcroft HD DM’s have a larger surface area too, so in my opinion reduces fretting of the splines kept well greased.
Of course you can use 1 piece on the rear, I may do this next time but currently have Ashcroft 2 piece and have been happy. _\Hennessey|Venom| F5/___

You can buy from Ashcroft direct here:
https://ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/produ...e-flanges/

Regards fixings, somewhere like Kay’s Fixings on eBay is ideal, just be sure the bolts are the correct hi tensile grade, and length.
I cannot remember the exact length off the top of my head now.
I went for black ones with stainless string washers, but it doesn’t matter much the colour..

Hope that might be helpful, they certainly do fit boosts as this is what I have, coupled with 255/85 tyres. _\Hennessey|Venom| F5/___

Recommended from previous posts I have this for my back box. However there is another more expensive tin from the same manufacturer. Same black but glass reinforced. Any better than this one?

Corroless do a glass reinforced chassis in one ( corroless QDR ). It dries a semi Matt black, but that Matt is more of a very dark grey in my opinion. You can top with a gloss black RF16 for a rock hard paint job.

https://www.thomas-graham.co.uk/paint/corr...s-topcoats

Both available in spray cans or tins.

I wasn't impressed with it at all, its pretty soft.

I'm going with Jotum 2pack this time on anything, having it blasted or sanded properly with 80 grit 1st
