Has anyone fitted this type of wash wipe upgrade at all?

I think the only issue is see is neatly running the pipes and much more exposed pipes and so more prone to freezing. Definitely good for washing the screen though. My dad's iveco van has them and they are brilliant

when I get chance I'm going to do either this or put two extra std jets using the pump and switch from the rear wiper to activate them.
This way I have the normal jets for everyday driving and the ability to flood the screen in real bad weather or offroading before the wipers even move 2014 - current ..... 2003 defender td5 90 (my car) 2009 - current .... 2005 zx10r |

I've done this and can't praise it enough, one of the best driving aids, especially at this time of year when the roads are wet and grimy. Also seems to use less washer fluid.o

BuckBlu110 do you have any photos of the mod in situ please? - how have you dealt with the existing central washer jet & how have you routed the pipes to each wiper arm from a central exit on the bulkhead? Cheers.

One of the issues with the standard set up, or indeed the two jet modification as shown above, which bugs me is that the nozzle is so close to the plane of the screen that the jet of fluid hits the wiper, and it is difficult to get fliud to the upper side of the wiper blade. A loooooooong squirt is needed to clear the screen throroughly, using a lot of fluid from the woefully inadequate reservoir. I cannot see that fitting second nozzle assembly does anything to improve this.
It is my intention to upgrade to the arm-mounted quad-nozzle arrangement when I get time. |

The nozzles on the defender are really quite pathetic, certainly an upgrade from the series version but not by much.
Many many years ago now I put together this system based around the Peugeot wiper blade mounted washer jets. Loved this mod as the water was directed to exactly the right place on the screen. http://www.reedx.net/landrover/mods/wipers/ I expect the washers are hard to come by these days. Plus the piping was as tidy as I could get it to be. Like the idea of the wiper arm mounted system, but still the issue with the supply pipe being routed through the front of the bulkhead. Which is why nowadays I have gone for the twin Defender nozzles and they work well, but as stated it can be a pain to get the water to the top of the screen. Added to this the OEM nozzle I bought for the second half of the screen seems to have a mind of its own when it comes to water jet directionality and sometimes produces the perfect jet and more often thean not creates an ineffectual fan that doesn't reach the screen. I have often played around with the idea of modifying a set of Disco 3/4 heated washer nozzles. I have seen them mounted on the the defender bonnet somewhere, but that seems like a stretch in distance and upward angle to get them to work well with a defender. Actually bought a set to play around with. Perhaps I should revisit the idea... |

In practice, that wasn't the case. The twin streams from each jet found their way around the wipers and because the water was delivered more closely to where it was needed, less was required. I've just bought the bits to carry out the same mod to my current 90, if it ever warms up enough  Darren
