Fitted a second windscreen washer today by moving the existing over to one of the LHD wiper holes and adding another through the other LHD wiper hole:
Click image to enlarge I decided to mount the washers through the existing rubbers as they're a funny shaped hole and pain to fill otherwise: Click image to enlarge Inside, with half the dash in pieces, I fitted a tee to the end of the existing pipe and then used equal lengths of new tube to the washer positions: Click image to enlarge The only snag was that the original washer developed a split that leaked all over the place when I first tried it. Sorted with a bit of silicon and a small cable tie though. I'm all ready for the winter now Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? Darren, nice mod One question though, with two washers and no mods to the pump, is the water "jet" (maybe that is too strong a word ) still acceptable? I find that already with the single washer in the middle, the water jet is already barely just acceptable. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

It seems to work just fine. I guess the limiting factor is the jet size rather than the pump strength. Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? You're braver than I thought!" - Princess Leia |

I've been on a bit of a roll over the last couple of weeks, making headway into the backlog of mods that I want to do and clearing some of the clutter of parts from my garage. Anyway, this morning I've fitted some chequer plate cills to my 110. I bought these from eBay ages ago and they didn't fit very well as they fouled the wheel arches at each end of the cills. Yesterday, I trimmed them down to suit and re-painted them satin black and then this morning I've stuck them on. Literally, as it happens, as I've decided to have a go with automotive double-sided tape:
Click image to enlarge After cleaning everything with white spirit and then clamping them in place for a few minutes, it seems to have worked really well. I just need to seal the top edges with some sealant (which I've run out of ). Long term, if they show any signs of lifting, then I can always drill through and bolt them in place too. In the meantime though, I'm really pleased with the result: Click image to enlarge Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? I took the Ice defender 110 out for a run today, first time since having a service and the paint work done, i threw a tank of shell v-power diesel in - can't see any difference, I'll stick to BP Ultimate
I must change the snow tyres for some summery ones. Beautiful weather, and the front of the defender hosts a fantastic insect collection |

Finally got round to putting my Defender.net stickers on. Not usually a fan of stickers on cars however I think these ones suit the car a lot better and are very subtle on the silver paintwork.
Rubbish photos from the Phone camera in the garage - Sorry And for good measure took the 90 for a Spin round the back roads along the Killcrankie Pass in Perthshire - stunning views today Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

Did mine a few weeks ago, the rear is more fun than the front... Not quite as much space. I used a trolley jack to push the guard upwards so it was easier to attach the top plate. It's very close to the tank and brake pipes (on mine anyway)...! Cheers Simon |
