Bonding rear door glass.
During the conversion of a pick up into a Hard top I have to fit a new rear door.

As I want to reuse the glass from an old door what is the best way to remove the glass and also what adhesive is used to rebond it into the new door?

Thanks folks

Andy

Do you mean the pre 2002 rear door where the glass is held in with aluminium angle sections ? If you do then what I used was dum dum but I'm not sure if it's still available, it was ideal as it's easy to use,not messy and you can take the glass out if you don't get it spot on first go. 2005 Td5 90 XS

It is a pre 2002 door and it does have the aluminium trim on the inside.

Heard that Tiger seal is the stuff to use!

Well it won't fall out if you use tiger seal, but it could make replacing the glass at a later date challenging !

The alloy strips will secure the glass in place you just need some thing to seal it. 2005 Td5 90 XS

I'm also converting a truck cab into a hard top, almost got all the parts I need Thumbs Up

I bought a new door from SP Landrovers and asked for the glass to be sent unfitted. It came with some flat rubber strip to be fitted between the glass and the door. I can't see it on their website but they're very helpful and I'm sure they'd sell you some Very Happy
