With the bare bulkhead I've sorted the inside sound deadening but have been thinking about installing some heat reflective material on th engine side of the sound deadening as I'm told the LT1 produces much more heat that the Transit engine.

Any comments, advice, hint and tips appreciated.

Gold plate is a good heat reflector, isn't that what supercars use? Whistle James

We use Lizard skin thermal barrier, would be worth getting your manifolds ceramic coated also

Hi Linds,

Lizard skin seems good but most of the videos I can find show it being sprayed internally, how does it last as an external coating? does it need to be over coated?

Lizard skin can be overpainted but it would be a distressed finish similar to Raptor its also available in thermal and acoustic barrier too.

thanks Linds,

I really like th eidea of the Lizardskin ceramic coating for the exterior of the bulkhead and perhaps the seat box, but I cant find any information if the coating under the vehicle can be left unpainted and if so how hardy it would be in the long run.

I'll try and call Buzzweld who are the Uk distributors and let you know what they say.

We tend to use Raptor as a base coat under seatboxes/floors etc

I had some manifolds ceramic coated by Zircotech, seems to reduce under bonnet temperatures a little and easier than fabricating heat shields.

Been a big day today, finally my LT230 adapter and engine mounts have left the states.... yeh ha.....

Been fitting up the air lines for the suspension. The kit comes with red pipe, however the nice people at onair where happy to send me a roll of black which I think is more subtle than the red and thats coming from a guy painting his van bright orange.. Rolling with laughter

I'm a bit (lot actually) nervous whether all these lines will clear the body as I've only got my 300tdi to compare, however it's not the end of the world if they need modding later.

The on air suspension kit comes with an emergency inflation valve manifold, however I'm toying with adding the extra valve into each corner or removing them all together.

Sent my 4th large box of parts off to the platers.

Prepped some more bits.

Coated the servo with EM121 as it's better than the OE paint finish and is more resilient to brake fluid so should last much longer.

Decided to replace the steering column shaft upper and lower bearings.

I've found a new lower bearing but can't find a new upper needle bearing, any ideas....

Acquired a considerable stake in Dynomat shares.....LOL, I hope this stuff is worth it....

Managed to turn a fully working GM throttle pedal into a desk ornament in three easy steps by trying to transplant the workings onto the LR pedal, so back to the drawing board with that idea.

Bulkhead fitout is coming on slowly, very slowly........

Been a big day delivery wise, got the LT230 adapter and engine mounts from RW's and the new caliper brackets from Ceika.

New and old mounts

A word of warning if anyone is thinking of using Ceikaperformance.com or ceikastore.com or ceika for their brakes, I'd steer well clear, not only did they send out wrong part and parts that didn't fit but they are a faceless internet company with no phone number, so when things go wrong, very wrong in my case you can't talk with them.

However that’s not the worst part the most frustrating thing is that their first reaction is always to blame the customer, when the brackets didn't fit it took me over a week to convince them that they were wrong, they just kept repeating I had put them on the wrong way round. Which if they knew their product, they would have known it was impossible to do. I have been restoring or building cars for thirty years and they are the very worst company I have ever come across. I just hope their product is better than my experience so far. Rant over

Got the refurbished steering shaft back together

So now I have all the parts to fit the engine/gb/tc hopefully the next week should see some real progress.

Glad you're able to work the front brakes out, despite no support from the supplier.

A small amount of progress, but first a question.....

I'm very confused over the Brake Master cylinder.....

I'm told the part number for a puma with ABS is LR013017, I've now ordered three and not one of them matches the one removed from the donor ABS bulkhead.

This is the one removed from the donor bulkhead.

This is what I have received when ordering part number LR013017.

I even ordered one from JGS which showed the third port in the picture on their website but when it arrived no third port....

any help advice appreciated.......

Plated, painted and fitted the RW Eng engine mounts, note for anyone ordering these from RW's they don’t come with the rubber part of the engine mount, which I missed.

and the RW's adapter

finished installing all the height sensors for the On air system

fitted a few more items to the bulkhead.

wrapped up the dynamat to the tub

Installed, sumo bars, ARB's and OME steering damper

not that happy about the clearance from the pegged diff, something I'll have to keep an eye on...

Thats it for now, hopefully I'll get the mounts in the next few weeks so I can get the engine installed.
