Dormobile Camper with a twist
Here's my current project on the go.

Using a Utility SV 110 extended roof, i shoehorned a Dormobile roof from a 47 year Bedford CF Van onto it after many many nights figuring out how to make the larger dormobile roof fit and here are the results.

I also had the material remade so i could include a zip which allows me to open it up on plesant days Very Happy
The second row doors have also been replaced by older sliding window and antiburst handles to go with the military front set of doors.

I do have a build thread over on LR4x4 if you're interested Very Happy

That is a great idea and you have managed to sort it out, looking good and i'm liking the extra front roof overhang, makes a good sun visor Thumbs Up 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper.

I like the overhang for many reasons, one is the extra storage and 2 is the ability to shade the interior better when we hit the hotter continents. Since these pics i have made struts down to the hinge blocks to support the extra weight when the top box has solar panel and stuff in it.

Have you used those van sides yet? I wasn't sure if this roof was outside when you picked them up or not, but it's been a long time in the making Very Happy

Thank you Wyvern, it has been a long time in the making with work getting in the way most of the time!

I have done a few more bits over the past few days

I had an old aluminium roof rack which was surplus. I cut it down, repainted it and rebuilt it to mount on the side of the truck;

and a picture of the struts supporting the roof. These have been trimmed abit to make them a little more subtle

I'd like to see the inside please... Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

Before you get a Mrs is EXACTLY the time to do a job like this, once you’re shackled up the amount of Landy time you have is limited.

The interior is bare again as i stripped the old set up out which was designed for a standard 110 interior. Now we have standign room availible it's a new build!

The 110 extended roof came from this vehcile;

Click image to enlarge

I collected it from Gloucester way, strapped to my 110 and brought it home.

I then made a frame for it to sit on so i could wheel it about in and out of the workshopp;

Click image to enlarge

I made some timber braces to work on how the roof would lift and where the original rams would sit;

Click image to enlarge

Once i had these i then made a 40mm box section surround which runs all the way around the hole in the roof and is braced down to the sides

Click image to enlarge

I also stripped the grp roof, cleaned and insulated it

Click image to enlarge

and then covered it and installed a strip light and 2 movable spots lights

I've reused the old headlining in the visor part and trimmed the front off to mask off above the sun visors and refitted the original light. I may replace that light with something else in the future.

The panels are made from ply and thin sheets of foam and material sourced from a charity shop and are fixed with screw caps ( the black spots ) as every panel is able to be removed for future proofing like checking for leaks, condensation, access to wiring etc.

You will find that i recycle or upcycle as much as possible, in my old line of work i always had plenty of building materials to hand, other than that i reuse whatever i can.
I'll be adding more pics as i go along Very Happy
