Who’d have thought that your post would hit me so, so hard, much more than all of the terrible news of the last three weeks on the TV, the facts and figures, so coldly read out as the days go by.

Each figure, a friend, a family member, a loved and cherished one, taken away.

My thoughts are with you Laurie, I cannot imagine what you must be going through, it must be so hard keeping yourself in isolation, preventing risk of this spreading to others, when you, yourself are grieving through your terrible and horrific time.

No words can soothe you, I’m sure, but we are thinking of you, our utter condolences, from Kate and I.

That’s a terrible thing to hear Laurie. There’s nothing I can say that will help other than my thoughts are with you. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I was over on the joke page earlier and I stuck one up. I wish I had come here first.
I was so sorry and shocked to read Laurie's post regarding the death of his beloved wife. I can only ad my condolences to those already posted. The days ahead will be stark and difficult for Laurie and his family. RIP Mrs Laurie. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

There may be a little light at the end of the tunnel.

The intensive care occupancy has fallen in our Network and there seems to be fewer people being admitted to hospital now. We never needed to use the Nightingale units and our hospital’s critical care managed to keep to within its own ‘4 walls’ (given that we’ve taken over the ward next door too we didn’t need to go across the corridor into theatre as well). Other units were far harder hit than we were.

We managed with enough PPE in my hospital (though we ran out of proper surgical gowns). We were dangerously close to running out of dialysate (fluid for dialysis) and we have only 1 dialysis machine remaining free. Drug shortages reared their heads, unfortunately - but then we’re always short of something these days.

This may be the beginning of the end of the first wave. It’s not over by any means but there seems more control right now. There are still many fighting for their lives and dribs and drabs coming in too but it’s slowing.

Many families, like Laurie’s, will have lost loved ones however and that cannot be forgotten. We will certainly not forget those who died and I can personally assure everyone that those who didn’t survive were cared for and they were never, ever alone. This is cold comfort though, I know.

When the second wave comes it may be worse, they say, but hopefully we’ll have learned, adapted and be better prepared next time. The NHS has been changed forever - believe me.

Thank you from all Healthcare workers to everyone who’s shown support and appreciation till now - it’s been a massive morale boost at just the time it was needed (and all the food and other donations were very greatly appreciated 😋!).

DocP it is we who thank you, not just for being one of that great body of heroes who daily are risking their own lives for us, but also for taking the time and trouble to post here.

Our thoughts are with you Laurie, thank you for sharing during this difficult time so we can think of you.

Thanks Doc P for giving some valuable information other than what I read from our press.

I had the misfortune to be admitted into hospital 2 weeks ago with a bad strep infection to my finger, all I can say is repeat what we already know, incredible staff and amazing knowledge. We are all so proud of the NHS

Regards, Steve

My step father passed away this afternoon. I was lucky enough to spend the last 4 hours with him, telling him stuff he already knew, and talking to him about sport and cars. He didn’t know I was there, but maybe he did.

Raise a glass to those that gave you a love of sport, cars and beer- or life in general.

The staff were awesome, simply awesome. 👏

Well Hello from Aussie where we've been in lockdown for several weeks now.
Our Govt has done a great job to date, but the situation is fragile, and we feel that anything could happen, at any time, with respect to a "breakout".
So how are you guys travelling,..do you feel you're on top of things & have "flattened the curve"? We've just had a Govt "Ap" released which would greatly increase the ability of the Health Dept to trace & inhibit new infections, and of course we've signed up for it, because IT WILL SAVE LIVES.
But of course we've got those who bring their political "bias" into this, they won't accept anything from the Govt, "secret info being obtained","don't trust 'em", the Govt will "use" info against you etc etc etc,..absolute nonsense,..with all the stuff we do on line these days.
And how weak is the W.H.O. in all of this,..the "leader" who I see on the media, always appears to be half asleep, is around 2 weeks behind the times, never has anything useful to say, and why is there NO MENTION OF CHINA?
Keep Safe, Pickles.

We were warned back in January but few countries bothered to take their advice until it was too late. WARNING.
