Just a little update, being house bound does have its advantages ! The first was clearing out the garage enough to fit Matilda in! A real milestone as I haven’t been able to for the year she’s been with me! This means no more wet foot wells and a dry place to work on the winter Very Happy I have also been cleaning the underside and managed to remove 5 kg of mud and other assorted rubbish from all the nooks and crannies Whistle

I also purchased a set of series light surrounds and am planning on sanding and repainting them body coloured, and I quite like the idea of a heritage Aircon grille one day ? Any thoughts greatly appreciated for inspiration. In the meantime I am having an internal debate as to whether or not mount my lazers in the grille or on the bumper Question

In other news my sumo bars which have been on for a grand total of 30 miles have got failed gaiters on both bars, also upon inspection I found that they hadn’t been greased when installed Mad i called the local independent lr garage and they said they would be happy to charge me to re fit new gaiters but didn’t own up to not greasing, seriously considering changing and voting with my feet Rolling Eyes

Gwynn Lewis on the other hand were very accommodating and are sending out some polyeurothane gaiters so I’ll have to fit them when they arrive!

TheMule - the 90 looks great!

Thanks Harry.O Thumbs Up is yours remapped? Due to the virus mine had been postponed until further notice unfortunately Big Cry Big Cry

Thanks Jim I think I’ll have mine done as a precaution before the remap and use the longer allisport supplied studs!

I did the Series light surround and different grill on mine. Because there are several large holes in the front wing panels on later models, I also modified and kept the original light surrounds and painted them in body colour.

The grill is a powder coated stainless one from Lockwood International.

I like the Lockwood grille too, it’s a toss up between that and a heritage one! I really like the look of yours, so td5’s have the same number of holes in the front wing or is it just pumas? Yours look great by the way LandroverAnotak Thumbs Up

Yeah, I think so. Apart from the hole for the horn, there's another set of holes below the headlight aperture. It's never been clear what they may have been intended for:

Many people think the redundant holes below the headlight (not present on all models/years) are for washer jets, but they don't actually bear any resemblance to the holes needed for Defender headlight washers! Bit of a mystery really.

Hmm interesting, I can’t say I’ve seen that lower hole before on mine ? If not then I’ll have to trim the original panel down and then put it behind the series headlight ? Thanks for all the useful replies Thumbs Up

That's exactly what I did - you have to cut the 'rim' off the headlight aperture for the Series bezels to fit. You can buy ready made panels from the likes of Nakatanenga and Offroad-Tec but I refuse to pay £150-odd for what are basically flat panels with some holes cut in. I've got half and idea to make my own at some point but it's not high on my priority list. Darren

All of the extra holes are only present in Pumas I think. My Td5 wings are both plain under the headlight finishers apart from the horn holes Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Thanks grafty Thumbs Up
I’ve nearly finished cleaning them up, they’re really very straight and will be sprayed with etch primer and then painted body colour ! Grille wise I’m thinking this being body coloured too ?

The grilles come gloss black so you could try it on in black before painting it Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Sorry, you're right. I just dug out a pic of the bare headlight aperture on my old '05 TD5 and the panel is plain except for the hole for the horn. Darren

Hi, yes it's a stage 2 map from Alive. Mine didn't seem badly warped but 2 of the studs had snapped in situ and exhaust soot was evident at the back of the engine. From memory I fitted the new manifold with Wurth studs (eBay) and drilled the holes on each end of the manifold a touch bigger so that it could potentially expand when hot. No idea if there is any truth to the last bit but it's not warped again is is subjected to high EGTs quite regularly Twisted Evil

Look forward to seeing the new headlight surrounds on, quite fancy turning the front end of mine into something similar to LRA's 110 Thumbs Up 2005 Td5 110 Hardtop

The weather has been rather nice so have started to paint the light surrounds. My first attempt at painting anything so don’t look too closely ! Used 2 coats of etch primer and so far have managed to apply 2 light coats of Caledonian blue Cool
