I just wanted to check before buying the below oil to do 2 defenders that gl-5 ep90 will be fine for both axles and transfer box as I'm reading conflicting info?

You want good stuff in the transfer box, and don’t worry too much about diff oil quality as they are very basic. The GL5 should be ok.

For more info, and a deal talk to opie oil and get the discount that you get for being here.

Hi, I used Castrol syntrans 75w/90 for transfer box and Castrol EPX 80w/90 for axles. I got this from Opie oils.

The R380 main gearbox should have an MTF94 oil.

The REDLINE fully synth oil is for the gearbox. Top notch stuff Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
MOTUL for transfer box
The FUCHS is for the diffs
FUCHS fully synth for engine

Then canister oil filter, rotary oil filter, fuel filter, and air filter.

And got £26 discount as I’m a member on here.

It did on mine, it's quite hard to find the genuine stuff but I managed to on eBay, the seller was a main dealership, Harwoods and it's part no Stc 9157 printed on my invoice.

Opie oils do MTF.

But I was informed the RED LINE was a better oil.

The genuine stuff s not that fancy, really it is just a slightly modified 10w-40 engine oil. Back then MTF's or 75w-80 oils were not readily available so a modified 10w-40 was used. This was also handy for Defenders across the globe as no matter where in the world they are, or how remote they just needed a 10w-40 engine oil, rather than having to find a specified gear oil that might bot be available.

So these days a good 75w-80 meeting API GL4 is ideal, but if you wanted to stick with the traditional stuff then the Millers Trident 10w-40 meets LandRover MTF94 https://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-60215-millers...0w-40.aspx
