I use ForScan, free software designed for Ford engines. All you need to buy is a £20 USB to OBD2 cable (it has to be the right spec though so check the ForScan site). I got mine from eBay off the back of a thread here. You can read/reset all codes and see their descriptions. Also execute service functions such as pump learn. Also see live data, save it, graph it - great for comparing before and after a part change. I think they are developing a mobile app one day I read. Only downside is it won't connect to 10AS alarm unit, as it's designed for Ford, but unless you want that feature you can save a load of cash. I also use the software on my old man's Transits and the Mrs Fiesta. It's amazing and never had an issue! Now: 2010 2.4 TDCi 110 Utility Wagon Then: 2004 2.5 TD5 90 Hard Top (X-Tech Edition)

I would not take cheap stuff, but something suitable. I have the nanocom and am very satisfied. Scope see here: https://www.nanocom-diagnostics.com/produc...7-2014-kit
