Had a very productive Saturday. With no real idea on time frames, I expected this stage to take all weekend but me and a mate managed what you'll see below in 6 hours. I was well happy with that.

So, first plan was to take off the bulkhead which was easier said than done. We had to cut off the long bulkhead to sill bolts and the sills off each side...

We strapped the block up and lifted it out the chassis...

And then dragged the old chassis out the workshop...

sounds really easy when it's typed up! Laughing

So here's the old chassis out side before the axle and suspension gubbins were whipped off...

Should probably say "DANGER, NO forklift trucks!"

We popped the block on a DIY cradle so I can clean it all up, and rolled the axles in ready for their strip downs and re-conditioning...

Old chassis flipped over for cannibalisation...

Had a quick scrape of the rear axle and good news... Shiny bits! Cool

Block and axles in the workshop + added bike porn...

So Fathers Day is going to be spent having a good old clean up.

Cheers Clayton. Big props to you mate, couldn't have done it without that B&T!
Not a peep from the beam, I reckon it could support the whole truck!

That pickup is nowhere near standard! Can't remember what block he's got in it but it sounds great. I know it's going up for sale soon for pennies...

Sooo...

Last week I went and bought another one!

It's 2 months younger than the other one and in great condition for the age. Only 110k on the clock and well looked after by stanstorey from the forum here.

So the plan is I'll be giving "Black Beauty" a back to basics resto so that the misses can use her for school runs, day to day living etc and "Red" will be getting all the treatment I was going to throw at Black.
Thought I'd keep both in this thread instead of running 2.

Red's going to be my work and pleasure horse so it'll get customised to my specific taste which Might make some eyes water!
With that in mind, there's a few pics of what I got up to on Sunday...

Out in the garden for a clean and polish.

Token red skull gear knob dropped on then decided to fit the Raptor dash I had in storage. Started to strip the interior.

Decided to use the old dash from "Black" as it's already cut out and Silent Coated ready, also can drop the unmolested dash in to Black to get it back to original.

First bit in.

Glove box and pod in.

Everything in including binnacle. I've got the fuse box cover and storage tray but couldn't fit them cause I was out of time!

I also sorted out the NS striker plate cause the door wouldn't close and fitted the XL wing mirrors from Mudstuff.
I've ordered new door handles to fit this weekend and am thinking of replacing the roof with the black one.

I did toy with the glove box for my old one, but never got the chance to invest anymore into it. That mud cup holder thing was the worst buy for sadly. you cannot move the passenger seat right forward. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
