(Gosh I hope the Grenadier has a modern interior...honestly that could be a deal breaker for me. I'd sooner accept the compromise of a complex New Defender to get a modern, comfortable interior than I would accept the compromise of the Gren's solid axles etc. if it doesn't have a modern interior - but my hopes are high because what they promised is modernity)

Interesting. What would you say to comfy durable seats, a cubby to put your small stuff, minimalist gauges, a holder for phone/tablet for all the infotainment and GPS you need, and.... rubber flooring so you can wash it out with a hose. And airbags obviously.

I love having rubber mats in my 90. Just spray it down, lift up the mats to dry. Couldn't deal with carpet or any creature comforts. I's admit the cup holder can be handy. And I really loathe the freelander instrument panelin the Puma. Fuel, eng temp, revs and speedo are all I'm interested in. I wish the Puma had something like the TD5 instruments.

For the Genadier, Trip counter, fuel calculator, outside temp, actually all other data could be sent to your device from the vehicle. Making the display tech future proof.

Myself, I'd really like the interior to be as minimal as possible, then you can make of it what you wish, that's the fun part.

HA! No reg WW909TC in their social section. It doesn't look like the result of legislation just an incompetent designer. WARNING.

Wait a minute. Did the designer of that boat thing, design the Grenadier?

I'm hoping that aftermarket will sort that 'tea shelf' out. Actually don't mind it at that angle. But at least it doesn't have a DVD/CD slot in the front... or does it? Why why why?

It looks awful, impossibly amateurish. And why highlight the vulnerability of all that low-hanging steering gear in front of the axle by painting the guard/cover thing bright silver? At least paint it black and pretend the problem doesn’t exist.

I assume its so big - so you can fit the winch inside it.

Look on the last video - looks like that may be possible.

It is almost certainly the way it is due to the requirement to scoop up pedestrians and deposit them on the bonnet, rather than churn them around under the vehicle. An area of vehicle design where the designer actually has very little freedom of choice.

It may be ugly but could be worse, look at the new Defender, for example! Very Happy

I don't think it's due to legislation. The chap who designed it has only done boats before. Maybe he specialised in tug boats or canal barges?

Agree on the last point though! WARNING.

For me the design (if there was one when creating it) of the classic defender has to be in the textbooks for vehicle design students, because of its (for me) perfect proportions. I often see modern SUVs that have great details, but when looking from distance they don't feel right. And it is always because an important proportion is broken.

This is my feeling about Grenadier too. The side is fine, but that's because it is more or less defender copy. The front is too low, too narrow...I can't explain it, but it surely doesn't meet the right proportion law.

I think that if there exists such a proportion law for vehicles, the Wrangler and G class would meet it, although been different. Defender 110 SW MY2011 2.4tdci decat, no EGR

I'm not seeing anything I wouldn't want to see...

There certainly doesn't appear to be any single use lantern clips or a plethora of seemingly brittle plastic parts prone to breaking off...anyone remember that launch video from Greece/Turkey (?) that got pulled not long after being uploaded?
