Brakes are always fun, if you are doing disks have you got new calliper bolts? Our official manual states new ones should be fitted every time the callipers are removed. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

Ah Censored !! no I haven't. I have never ever had to replace them, even my dad didn't on his either.
But we will see what fun and games we will encounter, as I cannot see things going playing sailing. Looking at the rear bleed nipples! Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

You can re use them if you wire brush them and loctite them. That's what I do with mine anyway and I haven't had a caliper fall off yet Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

we normally do that grafty tbh, only car I have had to replace bolts was the Rover metro. I fitted stainless steel ones, that was only due to one been odd sized and the others had well iffy heads.

I will take a photo of the toys I have to fit, at some point. But its going to be a mega upgrade, of the year I think this is. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Agreed on cleaning at loctiting Thumbs Up not sure why we are told to replace, probably because some people aren’t that clever when it comes to doing their job.

Interestingly our manual says along the lines of if no new bolts are available replace bolts with loctite and then replace with new as soon as possible Confused 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

All depends on how people remove them, Some people don't bother spraying down etc, so they end up making a hash of the job. My dad is well known for that, Working and working on with something till its Censored sadly. Hopefully it will not happen tomorrow, other wise its world war 3! He already knackered a nut on the 306 instead of leaving it, for a friend to have a look at it, He had better tools and may have even welded the nut back onto the frame. But my dad caused that much bother, we ended up having to cut the bolt etc. Evil or Very Mad Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

We began the strip down, and to see what nightmares were going to hit us.

We had a bit of a drama with the bolts for the brake calipar, took two of us to slacken those off, Then the flexi hose had to be cut off Rolling Eyes So we lost a fare bit of time there.
Once off

Stripped

New parts starting to go back on, My dad was sorting out the bearings, He made an error as normal Rolling Eyes
But soon we were rocking away
New disc ready do go on,

old unit,
These have seen better days have they not, and the one of the pads was more worn than the other. So there is a fault somewhere.
All installed, ready for the new uprated flange, ( we have to go back and fit the circlip As i have just discovered that you have to fit that back on. Going to be a bit of a struggle getting the shaft out for that i think Shocked )

New flange on, and all sorted

Also a little treat for you too, Whistle
we tried a new wheel on, just to see if the flanges would cause any dramas, Which they didnt and they fit better than the Censored have on now!

Only gripe i have, is i bought some land rover centre caps, and they do not Censored fit Evil or Very Mad Any ideas what caps fit these?
So tomorrow its round two with other side, and we may, just may have a look at the rears.
