Safari Equipment R & T Sliders.
Picture heavy. Excuse quality of pictures.

I took advantage of Santa Brendan's offer (before he got grumpy again) and purchased a set of these over Christmas. Suffering from mild OCD I requested specifically for "A totally unblemished set with extra packing please!" That is exactly what I got. Thank you Brendan. Finally got round to fitting the first one today, second is planned for Wednesday. As with everything Defender a little 'fettling' was required, due to the fact my wheel width is quite wide and I had moved the mud flaps outward with the Entreq brackets I also had to reprofile the top of the front mud flap to accommodate the slider. Nevertheless as with everything with the Safari Equipment brand the quality is excellent, galvanised and powder coated. Thanks to Brendan for answering my queries today on the phone. Still got the three nuts left over.

Laughing Thumbs Up

Standard XS sidestep and sill to be removed. Got a mat out of the garage so I wouldn't get 'Farmer Giles' in the cold.

Looks excellent - I would follow your example in a minute if MrsK would agree - she's only 5' 2" and was the instigator of me fitting the same side steps as you've taken off! Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

Can I just add that since fitting my R&T sliders, my truck seems far quieter to drive... in that it seems to creak & groan less Rolling Eyes

Laughing Hi Brendan, your words not mine. I didn't notice any hint of grumpiness when we spoke today!

Very good bits of kit. Had them on my 90, and now a new set on the 110.

I use them a lot to get stuff on and off the roof rack, and they are very slippery when wet, so I stick 1" skate board tape along the tops. It stops you falling off them, but as is on the top only, you don't ladder your tights getting out Whistle

Excuse the ignorant question ... But how flush can you get a rock slider to sit ?

Can it sit in line with where the original sill did ? Or will always protrude beyond that ?

We've got a couple of http://www.4x4overlander.com/product/maxig...-curved-2/ on to cope with the slippiness -perfect for getting in and out of the driver's door but not in quite the right place for the passenger door as somebody never asked where I put my feet and hasn't had time to move them. We used to have grippa tape on and these are much kinder to your tights and don't get clogged up with muck.

You can get them more flush, not completely flush, and they are called rock sliders. Rock and tree sliders have the extra bar for protection.

Can the rock sliders (without the extra bar) fit with side steps still fitted?

I also bought a pair of these from Brendan, excellent service of course.

They seem to fit nice and tight upto the bottom of the doors/pillars/wings and pull in tight to the inner sills on our double cab.

Only issue I have with fitting them is that you seem to get 4 shims with them, unforunately (possibly due to the usual build tolerances and the new YRM mid body x-member I fitted) seem to need one shim each side on the rear most mount and 2 or three on each side of the middle mounts!

Have got some strip steel to make up some more shims which should let me tuck them right up to the body.

Also got some interesting door seal ideas for the bottom of the doors/top of the sliders.
