I just filled the gap above mine with black sikoflex to fill the gap and stop the crap getting between. Black sikoflex with black R&T's hides the gap nicely.

This might be too extreme for a visit to the supermarket:

Totally...... Off Topic Rolling with laughter

The first one I had for my motorbike but over time the plastic becomes brittle and cracks. I was in the military so I got the Survival Equipment Section to dismantle the plastic one for templates and make me a new top out of waterproof, breathable material. Still going strong 16 years later......and yes my motorbike was my last project prior to Defender ownership and at 19 years old less than 17K miles on the clock it is still in pristine condition.

Thumbs Up

Quick update and a couple more photos....As mentioned I used 'extrusion' (like a door seal) that I have in my garage cut a length off and ran it along the Entreq door plate. It would have also fixed along the body ridge underneath but would have needed to be of a larger profile. It was only needed along the length of the door as with a 90 the rear panel sits flush with the slider.

We are indeed and it is to be expected naturally. Thumbs Up

Finished nearly, all that remains is to Waxoyl the fittings. Couple of additional photographs.....

Sliders sit a little forward, could not space rearwards as front chassis fixing point would not have had in my view enough exposed threads out of the nut.

Had to slightly reprofile the front arch spat. As these sliders are not coming off it didn't worry me.

Rear arch it naturally fell the same distance short so I fitted a longer stainkless spat securing bolt and added a rubber grommet in the void onto which the spat could be secured onto.

Hey All,

I am trying to fit some of these ( safari equipment rock and tree ) and I have a few issues:

A) even with the brackets fully inserted up to to metal ring the long bolt that screws in with the large aluminium washer doesn’t reach its about 1” too short minimum.

B) with the sliders bolted to the bracket the slider hits the bodywork on the car before the bracket is all the way home in the rear tubes meaning if they were ever used in anger the floor would take the load before the chassis 😢

It’s a standard 04 TD5, doesn’t anyone have any experience fitting these with similar issues?

Unfortunately they were pretty badly knocked up upon delivery so I had to paint them which means I now probably can’t even return them.

Thanks,

Tom

I have just fitted a pair of Safari Equip rock sliders and had the same problem with the bolt being 1” too short, luckily I had some HT bolts in the garage which were longer.

Well Brandon never got back to me despite promising me he would the following day as he was heading home for the day and several emails Big Cry

In the end I went direct to safari equip who sent out a bag of goodies to get them fitted and just painted them where they were damaged.

Considering Brandon’s reputation on here and the cost of the sliders I was extremely disappointed.

In other news they have been on a few trips inc Strata Florida and I haven’t touched them yet but there is a nice white line on one where some one has doored it Rolling with laughter

Lets put some time scale on this.

Tom ordered these rock and tree sliders at 12.22 on Thursday 3rd May.

The customer note was

Quote:

If you can get them out today there will be someone home tomorrow to receive them Surprised)

This consignment was booked in with Fedex at 12.50 that Thursday and collected by them at 14.14 hours the same day, i.e. less then 2hours from the order being placed.

At 15.32 hours on Friday 4th May from the Fedex tracking system

Quote:

Delivered - Left at back door. Package delivered to recipient address - release authorized

SIGNED BY: SIGNATURE RELEASE ON FILE

So from that information no one was in to sign for them despite customers instruction and the goods were delivered within about 27 hours of the order being placed

I then got a phone call saying they were badly damaged. I apologised and said I would arrange a swop on the Monday for another set of R + T sliders even though I had seen no evidence of the damage!

Saturday 5th May evening Barbara and I discussed swopping the R + T sliders on the Sunday as we could incorporate that with a visit to some good friends of ours who lived closed to Tom.

At 08.51 on Sunday 6th May Tom posted

Quote:

Unfortunately they were pretty badly knocked up upon delivery so I had to paint them which means I now probably can’t even return them.

So by altering the goods Tom had accepted the goods and that was within about 40 hours of the goods being left at his address! So there was no reason for us to exchange the goods. With the goods wet painted I could not return them to the manufacturers. Also it would make it more difficult for us to get them recoated.

On Monday the 7th I checked the size of the bolts and stuck a couple of longer bolts in the post so as far as I was concerned the matter was closed.

So what did Tom want an email saying yes you have wet painted the goods, no they will not be exchanged confirming his post of Sunday 5th May?

Why raise this again some 7 weeks later?

Now if there is any issue with any items supplied by 4x4overlander just let us know and we will do our best to resolve the issue as soon as practically possible. If you alter any goods then basically the goods are accepted and the right for exchange etc is severely reduced.

As far as I am concerned this matter is closed!

You said you’d call me back Saturday, you didn’t. I send many emails Friday with pictures of the damage and one Saturday to chase up a response when you didn’t call - no reply. Mind you it’s easy to check stock before shipping as well Whistle

You also didn’t send out longer bolts unless they got lost in the post, safari equipment did a week or so later - during which time still no contact from you so even if you couldn’t replace them you knew I needed the bolts.

I’ve only just got around to updateing the post with my feedback I think it’s fair people see the good and the bad.

It’s not difficult to call someone back when you promise to the next day, which you didn’t and you never did at any point past that to follow up or reply to any emails it’s that simple. So had you called back Saturday to inform me of those plans then I might not have touched them up Sunday but as you know I needed them for a trip that Friday.

You passive aggressive reply says it all Rolling with laughter thankfully safari equip were legends and really helpful.

Either way I feel your lack of communication was awful and that’s why I wouldn’t recommend you to anyone.
