I've got the Entreq door sills/entrance strips and fitted a length of extrusion (pretty much the same as the door seals) along the bottom edge of the strip before offering the slider up.

Thanks Andy
I knew about the extra bar - but it seemed that some sliders sit further in than others ... I'd like some without the tree bars on - but ideally would like them to sit flush like the standard sill does.

They look great, very similar ( visually ) to mine , I do not quite know how they vary from one to another, though I do know mine were not galvanised , which I wish they were.
When got mine , I got a mate to paint the box section parts in body colour , as one thing I really didn't like was the way, that when fitted ( or not fitted, just minus the original sills ) it made the truck look a bit odd, where the wing bottom, door and rear quarter basically just stopped , in a sort of unfinished way. Having painted them , it gives the visual impression of the original sills, but with the sliders sort of sprouting out of the box. I also fitted a C section adhesive seal onto the box part , then fitted the sliders into place , had to have a few attempts, so as to get the line visually correct, and account for panel oddities. The end result is so much neater, more factory looking than the obvious gap that was there with them fitted minus seal. Also cut down/re shaped the mudstuff dirtDfenders, as I bought them before the sliders , realised they wouldn't fit , but as I had ripped all the packaging they couldn't be sent back, so just attacked with a blade, dremmel, and sandpaper, then got them painted also. The gripper tape I fitted is 50mm wide, and is the remains of a roll I got with my D3 sliders. Rather than have a 90deg square edge to it, (which looks crap, and leads to the corners lifting) I got a repairwasher that wash the same width, though an aerosol orang appropriate radius will do, and with a blade cut around them, leaving a nice semi circular finished end to the tape, then similar for the laterals sticking out x2. Great attention to detail there Windowlicker ....
Can you explain a bit more about the C section seal ? Did you for it into the back edge of the slider so it concealed the gap above it ? |

Hi Ander,
As when I first fitted the seal, I messed around a bit finalising the position , were I to do it again, I would pretty much final fit the sliders, then when happy that they are staying "just" there, I would either chalk or felt tip a line longitudinally following the panels bottom. Then remove the slider ( degrease with brake cleaner or similar , the slider ) then warm up the paint if very cold, and sit the roll of C section seal on the radiator first before fitting. This seal was 14mm C section, 3M adhesive backing and very supple. It just deforms/squashes when compressed, and pops up and in fills the gaps where needed. I couldn't live with it not fitted , as the gap just looks bizarre and very unfinished if you see what I mean. I also used the same seal, to run the full underside of the bonnet also, which nicely seals against the wing tops when bonnet is shut and stops loads of crap/water getting into the engine bay. I have been calling it C section seal, when it was in fact D section !! Duhhh ![]() ![]() This is pretty much what I bought, though I thing I got 2 lots of 4 metres , as it's cheap enough, and handy for allsorts. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4M-D-type-Door-R...5d519b207c Cheers, ![]() Nick "Procrastination is the thief of time" |

We have supplied the Safari Equip Rock sliders and Rock and Tree sliders in mild steel, galvanised and the standard finish which is galvanised and powder coated for 90s, 110's and 130's. There is a difference in the R + T sliders between say 110 SW/HT/USW and 110 double cabs and HCPU etc.
We keep the standard 90 and 110's R + T sliders in stock. Others we get to order. Luckily the factory is only a couple of miles away from us ![]() Please note we are always dealing with Land Rover build tolerances. Brendan |
