In my experience Lucas these days is repackaged cheap tat from India and China and by no stretch of the imagination would I ever call it "quality".

Probably of Turkish origin and rebuild, distributed by Britpart. It'll probably last the years warranty.
Good luck with that, I'll stick with Ashcrofts.

Before biting the bullet on new pads try a light smear of coppaslip on the back of the pads where the caliper piston pushes it.

You remove shims to eliminate play.

I wired the DLR off the ignition with a relay. Simples.
As did I with a n/c relay to switch them off when I switched the side / headlamps on.

Nissens we're the OEM for TD5 and TDCI radiators to Land Rover. Mine is doing sterling work cooling my M57 👍
