The centrifugal oil filter on the TD5 sometimes makes a noise (spinning down) when switching the engine off.
Maybe that's what you hear? |

IME, once the case is worn, no type of sealant would ever give a satisfactory result, the only option that actually worked for me was to use a sleeve like those from Ashcroft.

Looks like I managed to make it disappear, or close enough...
I applied some black bumper restorer on the cracks, to hide them.

| Upon further inspection I doubt this could be caused by the bolts, there is a metal spacer inside so the plastic is not under stress. |

Probably cheaper to replace the part (part# FDS500040PUYB) though!
It's just cosmetic... so I'll just leave it, I guess. |

Mine looks exactly the same. I tried to hide the cracks with boot polish but it didn't work.
Maybe painting over? Not sure… |
