I've notice that if I accelerate hard on a hill after spending a few days driving conservatively the amount of black soot billowing out is amazing!

Look also at the Molybdenum and Silicon likely sources too, I worked from L-R along the histogram.

Interesting there isn't a change in level.

Are you aware that replacing the crank oil seal involves removing the timing belt? Time for new belt and idler/tension pulleys plus setting up the timing.
