Does it happen more often when the motor is cold or the weather outside is cold and damp?
TD5 clutches DMFs seem to suffer from this cold condition when getting more worn.

This happened to me as well.
I carefully cut the middle of the broken pin out with a pointed carbide burr in a Dremel.
Pulled the remnants out with a pick.
Took only a few minutes.

Might actually be the cause as I can see some ugly green corrosion that might have caused some high resistance, then melting....I think this has been reported on this board in the past.

Yep,
Pretty simple.
I disassembled them to change the covers on the foam to match my front seats...and add three seat heaters for the kids.
I took some pictures somewhere I think.

Interestingly, mine has started exhibiting the same behaviour since I removed the under engine cover when I replaced the lower crank pulley several weeks ago.
