My trimming is being done by Transcal in Livingston.
http://transcal.co.uk/ Ben Miller is a good contact both helpful and knowledgeable. They have been brilliant, almost all of the ideas on my interior have come from them, they know defenders inside out, when I was last up there they had around 15 in production and everywhere I looked there were defender parts. They would not tell me who all the works was for. They have done everything from Carpets to seatbelts and in some instance have made items for me (like the cubby lid). Considering the quality of the materials, the design time and making parts (and also fixing my mistakes  ) the costs are very reasonable.
I'm not being paid for my view but I have been critical of almost every other supplier I've come across, its good to have something nice to say, been really good working with Transcal by far the best contributor to my build. |

Ive got the repaired wing back from the body shop and I'm going to fit the wings up this weekend, however I'm not sure of the process...whats the best/easiest way...
1. Fit the liner plus top/front, then add the side panel once the wing and liner is done or 2. Fully make the wings up (liner,top,front and side) off the the van, then fit them any advice appreciated... |

I’ve only ever done option 1, but it’s straight forward enough. A few of the outer wing to bulkhead bolts are a bit of a stretch to torque up, but it is doable.

Got Ronnie at YRM to make this steering guard for me, just split as to whether I should leave it like this or powder coat it black??

Powder coat!
YRM are really helpful aren’t they, proper old fashioned customer service! He sorted me out with a “emergency” tank cradle at 17:00 on a Saturday afternoon! |

epoxy prime and paint, that way if it chips just rub down and paint

Looking good! I think I'd paint black, try to keep to 2 colour scheme as much as possible. But either would look great. James

Thanks all Black Epoxy it is then.
Got to say fitting these wings has been a massive learning curve, OS was very easy, NS what a faf, didn't help that I forgot to put in the washer bottle and had to spend ages taking the wing off again. I think I fitted the NS wing 5 or 6 time before I was happy with it. Any way this is where I am so far, I'm picking up the interior next week so should be in a position to finish all the electrical works over the next 6/7 weeks. Idealy you should fit the bulkhead, rear tub and align doors before fitting wings,sills, steering column etc. This allows for more freedom of movement of the bulkhead. bulkhead door face should be perfectly vertical, likewise tub front face. Leave all tub and rear x member angle fixings loose until door gaps are aligned. M12 washers are used on bulkhead foot to reduce door gap. You may find jacking the door hinges up verticaly with door attached helps with fine height adjustment. It is quite normal to have to twist the bulkhead to acheive good alignment on both sides.

HI Linds, fantastic help as usual. One of the reasons why the wings have been on and off is to align the bulkhead and get it perfectly vertical and at right angles with the sill bars. You are correct the bulkhead was very slightly warped by about 5mm (dont know if it was like that or due to the galvanising)

Been quite a bit of progress, have been up to Livingston to pick the interior up from Transcal, The work is amazing really excited to start getting it installed just need to fight the urge to fit parts out of sequence
windscreen frame and windscreen fitted along with the lights, hopefully I wont have to take the wings off again 
Click image to enlarge How ever it's not been plain sailing, the tub didn't fit as the support bars were sitting on the top of the new fuel tank Grrrrr... Click image to enlarge a quick call to Mahker and they modified a pair of bars so that they are shallower, they even powder coated them for me. Click image to enlarge The tub is now on (and fits) for fitting prior to painting, it soooo heavy with all the dynamat , lizardskin, and all the YRM parts, takes 3 of us to lift it on and off, it's a bit of a faf. Just need to align everything now, hopefully I wont need to move the bulkhead or take the wings off again... Fitted the Optimill mirror arms with puddle lights and heated mirrors, think these look great.
