These kits usually require 30mm wheel spacers so the calipers clear the back of the spokes but my Evocorse Dakar Zeros clear due to their zero offset. There's little space between the inner barrel and caliper though so 've moved the wheel weights from the inner rim to behind the spokes.

What a great build and amazing truck!

Cool to see this with the brakes. I always wanted a set of the big brakes for mine but never wanted to run spacers. Great to see they fit with 0 offset wheels. I may have to go for this in the future.

Wish i had this engine and gearbox in my 90 Thumbs Up

What a great project. Love that steering wheel and the EVO Corse wheels are spot on. They were on the short list before I picked up Bowler 16"

Have a question about the LOF brakes. I have been advised regarding the bowler calipers and discs. If you change pads end of life you have to change discs as well, which is about 1700 quid. Is this the same with LOF, seems like a nice option if they fit behind my Bowler wheels.

Why do you have to change discs??

In general terms pads and discs have little bearing on each other in terms of being 'matched' and as long as the remaining component is in good condition then it should make no difference??

That's straight from Bowler to me over phone. Maybe incorrect?

I would want to know the exact reasoning....... there is no technical problem why it must be done unless they have some existing damage / wear

Curious how much fab work did this swap actually involve? Eyeing up getting another landy after selling my TD5 a few years back; looking at MW's site, you could almost be mistaken for thinking this could be a buy, bolt and program jobbie? Surely not!

I think it depends on the chassis used, MW Machines do a Richards Chassis thats a bolt in for the mounts and Marsland do an adapter chassis with bolt holes in place for mounts that Mahker and a few others do. Diesel Pump UK do a kit for the 200tdi chassis to use the OM606 as well.

It's just what they told me. Appreciate your questions dreamer, but I don't want to derail the OP talking about Bowler.

My main question was to mata or any one with experience with the LOF system. But I am guessing that no need to change disks with LOF when pads expire, and I will chat with the chaps at LOF.

Mata how's the braking system feeling now are you happy?

Not been here for a while hence the slow response.

Regarding the LOF 4-pot front kit i'd say its ok but not startligly different to new oem brakes. Tje main advantages are a thicker disc, slightly bigger pad area and a huge range of pad options. On my defender they feel like they take a bit more pedal pressure than they should, but this could be for many reasons.

The kit came with an organic 'street' pad which i used for a few months but felt like they were lacking initial cold bite. Id always liked the feel of forodo ds2500 pads on other road cars (even when cold) and for some reason thought i'd achieve this with EBC yellow pads so tried them. Unfortunatly this wasnt the case and the initial bite felt more dead so i eventually swapped back to the street pads.

I should probaby explore more pad compounds but as ever theres always a list of things to do. Currently trying to track down an annoying vibration so next up in the patrs cannon is a transfer box rebuild - it was opened pre conversion for a sleeved end case and during conversion for an lsd but everything else has 165k miles on it and its not having the easiest of lives. Front diffs probaby due a rebuild too.

Can you give a bit more info on this please - Currently looking at 8hp setup vs 6hp.

House of Torque sell a CANTCU controller for the 8hp, the claims OEM style shifting.

Ofcourse, this sounds perfect, and looking at your videos it seems the shifting is perfect with these 3rd party controllers but I do question the longetivity of them...

I don't want to be dicking about with replacing gearboxes and controllers every couple of years, as that would be no better than where I am currently! Big Cry
