When I did mine, I used some of that stretchy Veltrim:

You can't use anything too thick or the trims won't fit back on properly. Darren

Does it reduce the noise by much?
I watched a YouTube video of a complete sound deadening process, before it was started they measured about 85db of noise, when completed they measured about 75db but the guy stopped talking during the measurement. I rewatched the “before” section and there is a period during the measurement wher the guy stops talking for a second or two….the measurement dropped back to mid 70s !! About a 3db drop only I think.

I’m doing it incrementally and whilst it’s no S Class, there’s certainly less resonance, creaks and trim rattles.

Oh and no longer issues with winter condensation

Suspect most noise reduction has been offset by the wind noise from the roof rack though!

I’m pleased thus far, feeling less like a tin can in the back.

Remember that a 3dB reduction is actually halving the noise power (the Bel, like the Neper, being logarithmic). A 10dB reduction is very substantial and will generally sound about half as loud to the human ear.

The loudest sound in recorded history, the explosion of Krakatoa in 1883, a bang around 1000 times the power of the Nagasaki bomb, is estimated to have been approx 310dB. It was heard 3000 miles away and the shockwave travelled more than three times round the globe. It killed as many as 120,000 people. Amazon sells an aftermarket vehicle horn advertised to produce a cool 600dB, if true this would note only eliminate all life on earth but would if Einstein is right create a black hole which would destroy the entire solar system. You can buy this weapon of mass destruction for less than £40! Shocked

The short answer is yes (as part of a wider treatment - not just those panels).

As mentioned above, the dB scale is logarithmic and so a small change in number reflects a significant one in reality. Darren

I knows it’s not 100% necessary, but offcuts make for a good quick arts and crafts session as I move forward in the cabin.

Fitted new door seals all round too, old ones were quite perished. Hopefully stem a few leaks, no doubt cause some new ones.

New headlights in. Pretty sure I’ve nailed the alignment vs the previous ones, if not it’s down to the MOT station tomorrow to tweak them.

Wanted to try and avoid ultra modern looking units, just about pulled it off with Trucklites (ish).

Quite pleased with the outcome of a bit of used parts hunting.

Interesting that your USW has the small rear windows. Mine has solid panels there so I wonder when they were deleted? Darren

I don’t have the original build sheet but I don’t think they were cut in later. Last owner had it from new and nothing on the reams of paperwork to suggest so.

I do like the extra smidge of light and visibility from them.

I know what you mean as the back of mine is very dark, although I have made use of the space on each side for other things. Darren

I can't remember when the rear small windows were deleted, but believe it was a build economy measure but widely welcomed since the small windows are he easiest way to break in to an SW.
