Yeah - I would love to do that and I have the feeling I can deal w the injectors install, but I am afraid the VCV might be out of my technical ability. I seem to have read somewhere it was very fiddly.

Also - does the relearn process a must, or will the ECU be OK learning both the valve and the injectors on its own overtime?

I believe that for the 2.4, you can use FORscan, which is the application for Ford. That should have the injector coding function.
Not for the 2.2 unfortunately. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

It's well documented on here that the relearn process is unnecessary. The system sorts itself out in due course. Darren

I think he meant telling the ECU that there are new injectors and which injectors are where.

IIDTool BT from Gap Diagnostics works for me Thumbs Up

Ah, yes they need coding but the VCV doesn't need the relearn process, despite what the manuals might say. Darren

Just called PF Jones and they told me those Denso injectors do not need to go through the relearn process. Just plug and play…
They also absolutely certified me that the Denso VCV didn’t need a relearn either…

I am confused. Is that true? Neither need a relearn??

No need to relearn the VCV as they will self learn over time.

BUT!

You do need to tell your ECU that there are new injectors and where they live. If you do not do this, the ECU will still recognize the old injectors and may refuse to work since it doesn't know the new ones. You need to input each serial number (?) of each injector at the corresponding order they are inserted.

Since you will be doing this anyway, and you already have the diagnostic tool in there, might as well do the relearn. If you opt out on this step, no biggie.
