2002 Defender 110 Td5 CSW Zambezi Silver

Transfer case front output shaft play.

Hey everyone,

Just found that I seem to have a bit of play in the front Transfer case output bearing.

Does anyone know if this is normal??

Car is a 2001 TD5 CSW

Also getting a bit of a clonk whilst doing parking manoeuvres, any ideas what that might be?

The clonk I would imagine is the drive flanges on the rear, mine made and awful clonk until I swapped them out for the once piece design.

T box, I'm sure someone who knows more than I will be along soon to help.

Small amount of radial play is normal as it is a ball bearing and not taper rollers.

Awesome thanks!

The output shaft only has a small amount of play, guess I’ll keep an eye on it. Found that the rear prop was loose at the same time so tightened the 4 nuts. Phew!!

I’ll take a look at the flanges, thanks heaps!! Winter's here, thanks goodness!
