One piece half shafts, Britpart or LOF Clutches?
Hi all,

Quick question, I am considering changing for one piece rear half shafts in the hope to reduce transmission backlash, I've read (on here somewhere) that the Britpart ones were actually fairly decent.

I see that LOF Clutches also do them, but slightly more expensive. Any feedback on those? Which ones would you advise me to choose from, Britpart of LOF Clutches?

I am pretty sure both sellers are sourcing the part from the same manufacturer, simply because there cannot be many manufacturers of such an obscure part. That said, I have the ones from lof and have no complaints. Roaming around πŸ‡³πŸ‡΄πŸ‡¨πŸ‡

I recently put bearbach ones in mine. I assumed they're probably the same as the britpart ones, and I was placing an order from bearmach, so just added them on.

No issues at all so far (6 months and about 6k miles on them). A great improvement over the worn pieces I took off.

Humm, Bearmach doesn't seem to list any compatible with the Puma Defender, which reference did you order? β€œA Land Rover immobilized is a moral defeat for the driver and bad publicity for the vehicle, […] it's up to you to do justice to your Land Rover!” - Land Rover Driving Technique.

LOF is using same source as Britpart. I got mine from LOF as not much more and happy to support his business and get better customer service.

I went with LOF for the same reasons as Landy Andy, plus the fact that LOF could do next-day delivery over a bank holiday weekend. My only complaint is that the flanges are not coated with anything and turned orange in the rain pretty quick, I'd recommend a quick coat of paint on them before installing Thumbs Up 2005 Td5 110 Hardtop

Yeah, I went with LOF for the above reasons, it's always great to deal with Luke. Oh woe, oh woe
My crusty old landrover,
It will not go.

Right, but LOF is a tad more expensive and being oversees, next-day delivery won't apply. Besides, LOF doesn't seem to offer Paypal, which is a plus for me.

I have read https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic60317.html but I am still confused as to the right references to order for a 90 from 2009… Would LR072976 and LR072977 fit? β€œA Land Rover immobilized is a moral defeat for the driver and bad publicity for the vehicle, […] it's up to you to do justice to your Land Rover!” - Land Rover Driving Technique.

I fitted Britpart one piece shafts to my 2015 90 about 25k miles ago and have had no issues. About Β£120 at the time delivered. I painted the flanges first as indeed they will rust. Thumbs Up 2015 90 XS Santorini Black

I've got the Britpart ones, do paint them as the flanges do rust. However I've been very happy with mine.

I've just dug out my invoice:

They were listed as
FTC3271 left axle shaft
FTC3270 Right axle shaft
and also
BR 3605 - Axle Shaft Gasket (2 of these)

hope that helps

Ah thanks! I wasn't sure about FTC3270 + FTC3271 but they are now out of stock at Bearmach apparently.

Meanwhile, Paddockspares confirmed that LR072976 and LR072977 where listed as compatible for my VIN, so I just ordered from them…

Thanks everyone for the valuable advice on this forum, as usual! Thumbs Up β€œA Land Rover immobilized is a moral defeat for the driver and bad publicity for the vehicle, […] it's up to you to do justice to your Land Rover!” - Land Rover Driving Technique.
