In the Motorsport Journal, I'm sure the data from Ver's car showed he applied 69bar of brake pressure which caused a 2.4g de-acceleration.

Are you sure? The F1 show here in NL showed the opposite: yes he got off the throttle, but no he did not apply the brakes.

Anyhow, it shows that either the rules should be changed in this respect (e.g. designated spot for handing over position), or they must think of some other way of handling this...

EDIT: so it seems there was some braking, but still: VER left plenty of space to overtake, so why on earth crash into him? Because - just as much as VER wanted HAM to overtake him in that location on the track - HAM did not want to overtake VER in that location. Both knew what was coming, and both should have avoided the contact...

🙄 F1 cars don’t have brake lights, they typically on brake on the curvy bits, so when an F1 car directly in front of you suddenly brakes for no reason it almost always results in impact, as by the time you work out that they are decelerating you have little time to react.

Max was cheating, he was told to give the place back, you don’t do that in a way to disadvantage your opponent so much that you can then immediately take the place back. It makes a mockery of being told to give the place back. That’s why Max was penalized for causing the collision.

With Max going down the gearbox as quick as he did he would decelerate quite quickly. In an area where they would be accelerating hard it would all happen before Lewis could compute what was happening.

Also, if you look at the slow mo, those that say Lewis should have taken him will see that it was only at the point of impact the track widened enough to allow this, Max made no effort to allow him past but actually kept a central position to make it difficult.

If we had more Max’s racing every one would end up crashing, he is overly aggressive to the point of being wreckless. Lewis is completely the opposite, always taking avoiding action.

Personally I think the decision should be overturned, and the people that caused this chaos made to apologise. But it’s likely nothing will happen because that’s what happens in sport. Ride like you stole it!!
If I’m not on a bike it’s because only a 4x4 will do…

I don’t care who wins, I watch casually.

Max is a great driver…but he is not yet extraordinary.
He is rough around the edges and needs to improve his craft.
Read what the other drivers say… they know to avoid him.

For Lewis he couldn’t avoid him so always the conflict.
Lewis is the complete package.. it comes with maturity
He dealt with the defeat admirably..fair play to him

The last race was a joke..based on how it was managed. Embarrassing tbh.
You can’t have a ref changing the rules or his mind depending how he feels or who shouts loudest.
Masi should go and a strong replacement found.

Can’t be that difficult. Question Make today a little better than yesterday but not so good as tomorrow....

F1 and the FIA have a problem

They created a race win that's difficult from a sport perspective to undo. Max crossed the line ahead of Lewis

Hamilton won that race though and the championship, he's earnt his 8th title, but despite max doing many things wrong, on this max didn't lose, the FIA/F1 made Lewis lose and because of this message no scenario comes out clean.

All scenarios lead to a problem egg:
Merc being bad sports
Taking the title of max etc
They can't even make them joint world champions!

So what do they do?
I suspect they will do nothing and hope it goes away after 90 days people will forget.

What they should do, morally, is either make them joint world champions or reflect Lewis led 57 Laos was in a different League and the right thing is give him the win and do that by probably technical penalising max for his aggressive safety car restart, sack Masi or change the team rules etc and move on.

As for max, I don't actually believe he is the better driver, his ' he's had it hard' line was a joke, if everyone drive like him there would be accidents, he wouldn't be where he was in the championship etc. I think he's good but he's not the league of Lewis he is better than many in the pack for sure but how Lewis did what he did all season with less questions and more respect gets him the championship Mike

Are you also forgetting when in the same race when the Alfa stopped dangerously in the run off of a fast corner, Toto was immediately on the radio telling the race director there was no need for a full safety car and instead a virtual safety car (which he was of course correct but my point is they are all at it).

I lost a lot of respect for Toto when he was demanding "no safety car" - If a SAFETY car was needed for SAFETY of the marshalls or any other persons - drivers included, then a safety car is the decision of the race director and he should not have to take a team managers competitive decision into consideration - indeed he should not even hear it. Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!
