United Kingdom 2013 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 USW Orkney Grey
My wife saw one at the Goodwood Revival a week or so ago and came away very impressed. She liked the interior in particular, especially the size of the boot, which compares favourably with her D4. She's now signed up for their mailing list and suggested that we put a deposit down! Darren

Do you think if the Grenadier is a success it might effect 2nd hand values for the old Defenders?
Thinking of selling my Puma 90 Defender now once I place a deposit down, as 2nd hand prices for Puma Defenders are holding up very well right now, but I suspect they might drop when the new model Defenders start trickling into the 2nd hand market and also when the Grenadier comes on stream.
Any thoughts...seems to be a good time to sell a Puma Defender now anyway if you're inclined to be selling?

If someone wants a Defender they will buy a Defender no matter what else is out there. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

The Defender is now getting into classic 911 territory, in that the values are IMO immune to other market forces and are going daft as people want the image.

There aren't much classic defenders for sale right now and I think there will be less in the future. Grenadier on the other hand may be exclusive now but will be more and more available in the future. Market will follow. Defender 110 SW MY2011 2.4tdci decat, no EGR

I got my email yesterday, but it was a few hours late compared to others.

But, I've been on the list since the list was a thing, so perhaps they are only doing pre-reseverations for those who got in a bit early?

What I mean is, if there was only the first XXXX number of people who joined the list got the offer to put a deposit down. They are going to have a pretty small planned production capacity, and so if they get 5000 deposits from pre-orders, that means there's only 20,000 left to sell to the public.

Numbers direct from the "company says around 75,000 people have now raised their hands as prospective buyers of the vehicle.

These ‘handraisers’ will be able to place a build reservation from tomorrow (Sept 30), for an exclusive two-week period.

From October 14, reservations will be open to everyone else."

If everyone places an order than that's 3 years production even before the main deposit list opens...

These numbers of “handraisers” are from the same school of ridiculous nonsense as the figures number of people who used the new Defender configurator that JLR published. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Same school yes, perhaps a higher stream though. JLR’s 1.3m configurations, led to 11,000 actual orders. So 1 sale per 118. Ineos have to get initial orders of 636 to better that conversion rate...

Even refundable deposits does not give much away.

Can anybody answer, including Grenadier corporate?

BMW’s B58 petrol engine (1st generation) was introduced with their 2016 vehicles and was identified as B58B30M0. Along about 2019 BMW made improvements and began producing two 2nd generation engines, identified as B58B30M1 and B58B30O0. Which engine has Ineos selected for production of the Grenadier?

I realize that Ineos may make ancillary modifications such as shape / capacity of the oil pan to deal with off-road inclines, descents, and side angles, and possibly a larger alternator for tow packages, and others. Should BMW decide to create another designated engine number, it would likely be within the family of one of the three engines listed above.

If only I had one of those software packages you see in films, "can you zoom in on those labels"...

In the back of my mind I seem to have the fact that the scale of the requirements from Ineos meant BMW were going to give the engines their own unique designations.

So, what design changes will need to happen to get this thing road legal?

For example. This will need three amber lights on the front to get to the US. Anything wider than 80 inches requires them.

Also, it will need a reverse camera.

I'm sure more is needed, but I'm not sure what? Any idea? How about European, Aus, etc... What do you need?
