Hi Tim
There is no vecro used on the flaps - they are all fixed with a long plate, screws and zips ... the bottom of the storm flap has fasteners and I have ordered the same for the window flap too ...
We tried it out today in the wind and rain (liquid sunshine in cornwall ) and we are very happy with the results !

Having some more light coming from the roof area make so much difference, with the dormobile the windows aren't great for looking out of but they make the rear space feel more roomy and airy.

Good job there Thumbs Up

Well we are upgrading the water system in Poppy and have just ordered the chassis mounted 55 ltr tank from Safari Equip. I double checked to see if the tank was compatible with the rock sliders I fitted recently - so hopefully it will all go in with out any conflict.

https://www.safari-equip.co.uk/shop/land-r...ater-tank/

I plan to fit this myself but as has been mentioned before - I am a nurse and not a mechanic so if anyone has done this job before then i would love to have some tips! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I have a 30ltr tank in one of the cupboards at the moment which has been working very well, but I would prefer the tank outside to keep the weight low and free up the cupboard for more storage.

The water is moved by a small electric pump which feeds to a tap on the back door so the feed line would be shorter and the refill port would be easier to access.
I am not sure if I need to move the water pump at the moment but its something that I may look at while fitting the tank.

Right - 60 ltr water tank fitted - Job Done and Dusted - many thanks for all the help regarding fitting this .. It was well with in my capabilities, but had the usual issues from Tom at Safari Equip - ie no instructions !! - however he was super helpful when I picked up the tank and gave me lots of tips

Pretty daunting to cut the hole for the water inlet though !! measure 1000 times and cut once with my eyes shut ... !

Only one issue which was around the middle fixing mount which had no equivalent mount on the chassis - so had to remove it as it would have rubbed against the chassis - so will go with out for now and see how things go.

Looks great Gary. Really neat job. Like where the filler is fitted as well. Im still thinking whether to have the tank inside or out. no problem when we are in Africa but concerned about possible freezing issues if going into colder climates.

By the way, how are you finding the remap?

Hi Paul

The pretext for having the tank outside is keeping the weight low and the cabin warm ... we can aways warm the water if needed, and the tank is quite close to the exhaust so may not be a big issue in the cod - but will see how we get on. We had a tank in a similar place on our previous 110 and never had a problem with the cold with that set up.
60ltr takes up a big lump in the cabin, as the tank is over twice the size of what we had before - so nice to have the capacity to go for a week now when touring with out having to top up.
The cupboard the water tank was in has now been reconfigured to take the tools and spares, as well as the trauma and airway kit - the normal day to day first aid kit is still on the back door.. I am debating how to plumb in the new system as that will take some juggling of water lines and may possibly move the pump - but not rushing to change anything just at the moment.

Remap is nice and gentle - the pull away is much smoother and there is a lot more low end torque, meaning less gear changing when driving the Cornish roads .. so looking forward to using in on some mountain roads when the time comes - the ability to read all the engine settings is great as well - I am getting to let my geek side out now ! I think that I am getting more MPG as I have kept my normal speed and on the run up and back to Aberdeen seems to be about 30 miles better out of a full tank .. so with the current cost of fuel the remap would have paid for its self after about 80 tanks ! Whistle

Picked up the real door pockets from Tuf-Trek at the overland show last month - fitted them and they make a nice addition to the back of the waggon - more space to have things accessible from both inside and out when parked up cooking
The water tap flow misses the pouches when in use - so not a problem ! (I keep the washing up kit in that pouch anyway ...so it wouldn't matter too much if it did get wet )
