Deoxidizing aluminium parts
Hi guys, doesn't anyone have a "trick" or used a commercial product to refresh the appearance of Aluminium engine parts? I'm rebuilding a 300tdi and want to make it look a bit better than it does before it's fitted to the new chassis. Some parts I'll have aqua blasted but don't want to remove the cylinder head or timing case if I can avoid it as the engine was fully rebuilt about 4yr ago and runs perfectly. Cheers Craig

I’ve used this on a lot of Ali parts, great for removing the marks around rivets and anywhere else that two different metals join

It’s the protecting it after that counts though so it doesn’t oxidise so quick again Instagram; @gavin_walding

^^^^

Used the same to good effect.

As said, needs protecting after treatment. Rgds.

I've had reasonable success with Raceglaze - used on an Allisport header tank.

What I'd like to do is polish it to a bright as new finish (yes, yes, a bit tarty but why not!); what would be the best way to go about this? Some sort of metal polish? Brasso?

Cheers, Paul

This stuff works well on aluminium alloys for a bright polished finish. Use an old toothbrush for intricate areas. Buff with a clean soft cloth.

Thanks for all your suggestions, I've ordered some Raceglaze and will try to track down some Dri Wash polish, none available on Amazon. Craig
