Check the battery terminal, had possibly come loose

Failing that earth point on the transfer gearbox (drivers side) near the ECU box.

Check all fuses. Especially underseat ones.

The starter motor may be jammed in mesh, in that case.

You've just learned the hard way one of the several reasons why it is good practice always to start the engine with the clutch out.

Good you got it sorted Busarider Thumbs Up

Blackwolf - sorry to be a numpty but that sounds like with the clutch not depressed - it's just that I have another car non-Defender that will only start with the clutch depressed Confused Rob

Clutch out = clutch disengaged = pedal pressed

Clutch in = clutch engaged = pedal released.

This is the way it has always been, you let in the clutch to pull away, throw out the clutch to stop. It is a generational thing, young folk don't understand the terminology! Rolling with laughter

Most modern cars (the annoying ones which now seem to assume that they know best) won't let you do this - you must press the clutch pedal in order for the starter to operate. You can't start an L200 without pressing the clutch, for example.

Great to hear you sorted it l also remember reading in the owner's manual there is a cut out switch in case of collisions so a bad jolt could trigger it
