Pretty much, but the bristles are silicone, so you would have to be fairly persistent to cause any damage. I am not going to say the kit is well constructed etc. as it isn't! But it certainly got the seats and bores squeaky clean. I would not even look at one of the cutting tools again at this point. The Laser kit comes with blanks to block off the injector ports. I used a small vacuum tube to remove the debris. It really was much easier to use. The brushes in my particular kit were prone to loosing bristles, not in the bore but when adjusting them prior to use. I also covered the springs with insulation tape to stop them marking the bores. I tried to take pictures, but I was pretty dirty and there wasn't a lot of light!
