United Kingdom 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 CSW Zermatt Silver
Not yet Callum. Two weeks after my post, my Defender was almost totalled in a head on involving a car being pursued by police. It spent all summer and most of autumn in a repair shop. I’ve only just got it back (and still some accident work to be completed).

The electrical project still on my “to do” list but now very much depends on favourable weather conditions.

I know where you are coming from re the ignition live feed but actually the proposed source isn’t too far away in terms of distance and there are convenient grommets in the seat box. However, if you identify a feed from within the seat box itself, please let me know Thumbs Up

Oh holy Censored rockster57! Well I'm glad you got the truck back but hope you or yours weren't hurt.

Yes, I'll have a look over the Haynes wiring diagrams to see if I can identify a suitable feed to splice into. Will let you know if I succeed (or go the gearbox route). Thanks for getting back to me so quick. Thumbs Up

If you have a 2.4 there are no ignition sources on that underseat fuse box.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Thanks too Martin - didn't get round to investigating today so that saves me a lot of time! Smile

Hello rockster57, just to let you know that I followed PaulMc instructions to the letter today. Big Thumbs Up to Paul (again Very Happy ). Heated seats now toasty and no fear of flattening my battery! Best of luck with yours. Only just got mine done thanks to the awful weather.

Callum, embarrassingly my project is still on hold Embarassed .

I’ve recently returned to work from furlough - which now could all change again next week! A bit more time at home would certainly help. At least I have gathered together all the components and wiring sundries required.

Good to hear you have been productive. Nice work Thumbs Up

Hi all. I'm going to follow this plan too. Can anyone add a link to the relay used to trigger the ignition live please ?

Thanks
Tony

I'm bracing myself here because I'm probably wrong, but that relay looks to be overkill. Based on the fuse and cable ratings on my exmoor trim heaters, I just popped down to Halfords and got a cheap 40A 4 pin relay for £8. Seems to run both seats on high with no issues. I'm sure that Durite relay is better quality than the one I bought though Confused

Callum, I wanted a supply (via a fuse box) for a variety of components ie 4 x roof mounted spots, twin work lights (all old school halogen), some side mounted scene lights, amateur radio equipment, fridge and camping power for example. Hence I opted for the 100A relay. I’m sure you’ve done the right thing for your own requirements Thumbs Up

Late to the party
Hi all this is exactly what I think I need to do.
I have Halo rings I need to be switched on my new Wipac Headlights. I also have Lazer Triple-R 750's that I need the position light to also be on the ignition switch and the main lights on the main beam / switched.

Having read many many threads and the repeated advice is not to tap into something already present I am now of the opinion I need to add an additional fuse box with a new switched feed. Like others this is all new to me and whilst I could take it to a mechanic to do I want to do all the mods, fixes etc myself.

I have a 2010 Puma 110 so presume I need to follow the instructions in this thread however I am not sure on the shopping list and where the best place for future additions the new fuse box should reside - USB, Roof lights etc all to be added at some point.

I did buy the Lazer two light wiring harness for the 750's but not sure this is now needed. https://www.lazerlamps.com/two-lamp-wiring-kit-low-power.html

Again any shopping lists and advise greatly appreciated.
