These conversions look great!
I'll have to re-read the threads in more detail, but do you have blinds/curtains for the windscreen and front windows, or do you just put something across the bulkhead? I'm also thinking about PPP (Porta Potti Privacy)! Also, did you have to do anything for insulation and ventilation other than the cab heater? I've just started to ponder the options, but I see that Dormobile offer a conversion for a 90. I'll need to look into it and contemplate what it might be to 'live' in such a small space. The 90 would have the canopy extending over the cab, so perhaps I'd need to have some sort of privacy in the cab. |

We have an insulated, sucker mounted window blind for the front screen and insulated magnetic ones for the side windows, however they are easy to make up yourself if needed. We have home made magnetic ones for the rear door windows. The window frames on the doors are steel so magnets taped to a thin carry mat work very well there and carry mat held in place with bungie cord for the back sliding windows. if you are looking to have some privacy then just hanging something like a double towel behind the front seats and across the back door will hide you in the back .. 
We do have some insulation in the cab - but mainly for noise. as with the heater we tend to be nice and cosy. Ventilation is easy with the vents in the pop top and we have never had a condensation issue. The Dormobile top will be good on a 90, as it will give you a good bed length and the ability to stand up, but it will remove the possibility of having a full roof rack or roof bars, due to the operation of the roof and it being made from GRP and not metal. I've just seen a picture of a Dormobile 90, and the roof cap actually looks not too bad. I'll have to ponder it some more. I had been thinking about an AluCab roof tent, but the Dormobile would give standing height in the vehicle, and I wouldn't need to climb an external ladder to access my bed. On the other hand, I'm not sure how robust the Dormobile would be, and it wouldn't be possible to leave a bed made up in the roof. As you say, it also wouldn't be possible to use a roof rack. The other downside is having to hack a large hole in my roof! I'm wondering if it would be better to sleep in the Dormobile roof, or to fit a single bed platform along one side (from back door to dashboard). That way, I could still sleep in it if the weather was stormy, plus I could hop out of bed and have standing room. If a downstairs bed was the best option, I suppose I could look at installing that and trying it out before committing to the Dormobile conversion. I'm still just mulling over the options. I suppose the 90 isn't an ideal vehicle, so there's also that to consider. |

I meant to post photos of the gas bottle mount that we have in the rear left wing of Poppy. its a simple affair of a flat sheet bent to make a U, bolted to the inner wall of the chassis on on side and supported with a brace from the wheel arch and outer wing.
it takes the larger camping gas bottles with ease and allows the bottle to be fed in over the wheel then strapped to the mount for security. It is outside the vehicle so no worries about pooling gas in the vehicle as it vents into open air. Nice solution, do you carry a spare bottle or just swap for a new one before it runs out?

We tend to get about 6 months out of a full bottle when we are travelling and 12 months when we are weekending.
The plan on very long trips will be to carry 2 large bottles with one on the roof, and have a tangier back up with some meths just in case ! We cycled round the world with 2 tangier cookers and had numerous adventures buying the fuel for them - so we trust our back up ! Think I’ll go with the Camping Gas, more expensive than the propane but the bottle size makes it easier to find a place for! Small update - been a while and have done a few tweaks over the last few weeks.
First we have swapped the shower hose assembly for a tap to the back door- fed new water line from the tank across the inside of the wagon from the tanks and pump, then fed it into the back door. Its controlled by the pressure drop when turning it on. Any chance of a picture of where you routed your pipe to the rear door? I rather like the location of your tap (again, same as we have) - ours is fitted on a small shelf just inside the door (you may recall seeing it) as I was a wee bit concerned about stress on the pipe with opening/closing of the door. I routed the hose in with the door strut/damper feeding it up to the tap around the door mechanism. The hose has room to move and not kink and is not likely to get trapped. Ive added some of the cable protection sheathing which protects the hose from any fraying. Sorry no photos yet - but will take some when I get an opportunity. It works very well and ours has had no issues over the couple of years its been in use - However make sure you mount it the same way up as in the photo with the water fittings at the bottom incase there is a leak from the fittings which will drip into the motor part and rust - the fitting instructions mention this in the small print. Ours has been great and its good value for money! I fitted a simple on off switch for when I leave the vehicle for any length of time. the pressure is very good, and its not too noisy.
