I think that this https://www.firstfour.co.uk/defender-puma-sealed-air-system.html is it. I've got one together with a MOD RAI the whole lot properly sealed, it does help breathing. Just because you're offended doesn't mean you're right.

I’ll do a bit of research, but I seem to remember this works in conjunction with a RAI and works best with the fancy nugget box. Hope I’m wrong though.

Black wolf, that is indeed a thing of beauty.
I'm unfortunately not in a position to buy one though. It'd be that or the BAS remap. Car is a keeper though. So it'll just have to stay on the list for a while.  |

You can buy the Nugget induction kit on its' own, which replaces the restrictive existing pipe between wing and air box. You don't need to have an RAI or a different air box for it to work and it isn't £700. See the link to First Four posted by Shropshiredefender above. Darren

We’ve been messing around with the air intakes on our two Tdci Defenders. First off I have to say that neither of them have ABS so there is more scope for modification.
I should also say that both trucks are high mileage, one with 240,000 miles and the other with 130,000. First thing we did was modify the inside of the air box as many on here have done. Very straightforward, a couple of cuts with the Dremmel using the right angled attachment and pull out the static fan blade. Trucks breathed better and were smoother in the lower rev range. We fitted K&N air filters and this also seems to make a difference. One truck was fitted with a cheap knock off Mantec type RAI when we bought it which obviously wasn’t sealed, and this was connected to the standard duct to the air box. We 3D printed an adaptor for the air box that fitted into the intake and reduced down to 80mm and a plate to fill the hole in the wing and bolt to the inside of the RAI. The air box adaptor was a good tight fit but we added silicone to keep it in place and seal it. The pipe work and clips came from came from DemonTweeks an was very cost effective. The RAI went together well although we tried to copy the hooks on the original metal plate but that didn’t work very well as the thickness of them made them quite weak. Turned out that they aren’t necessary. It’s a bit of a work in progress but it makes a considerable difference. I think the only down side is that the map seems like it’s running out of fuel at around 2500 rpm. With a piece of adhesive neoprene to seal, the whole thing came to about £45. This is mine. Fits fine with ABS. Could go with a bit more of an angle, just make sure you have enough room for the pipe clip.

Iv now spent many hrs of searching on the interweb and found no shortage of connecting parts and flexible hoses. Silicone pipes, metal pipes, reducing diameters, even plastic toilet connections, there all available at the correct angles widths and lengths. Thanks for all your info and help. Enjoy your travels. Strip out done and air intake mod started.
Plastic Landrover intake - airbox is a terrible shape and design and at only an inch diameter I’m glad it’s out. By removing the radio antenna, this freed up space and allowed the bulkhead and inner wing areas to be waxoyled, cleaned and moving parts greased up. New Naka antenna ordered from Barbara. Loads of space now available from wing to air box. 102mm flexi pipe ordered from demon tweaks along with finished flange for the wing intake. Have done the air box mod and Nugget induction kit on its own and makes a big difference to the engine breathing, would definitely recommend the mod. |

If I were to look for the same type of hose that Nugget uses in his kit, what kind of hose should I look for?
If no one knows the answer, what would be a good substitute hose to use? |
