I’m still completely astounded that in 2020 whilst already having the technology for electric only as well as Hybrid engines, JLR think it is acceptable to launch a new vehicle (Defender) without offering either alternatives at launch! I mean - what were they thinking. If ANY manufacturers think I’m going to spend £55k plus of my money on a brand new car that does offer at the very minimum a hybrid engine then they are seriously mistaken. In 3 to 5 years time you Won’t be able to give their Diesel/Petrol only variants away!! They are good to loose so much money it’s frightening

I'm sure the PHEV will be along shortly as it must a straight lift from the RR/RRS 4cyl installation, my wife runs a RRS PHEV and its fabulous. 75mpg whilst charged, 45mpg overall according to the trip thingy.
I'm not sure an EV Defender (or any tall SUV/4x4) is such a good idea given the shed shape. 2015 90 XS SW Bowler

In various stages of pre-production as well as Rivian, quoted above, also:

Lincoln (via Rivian)
Tesla
Bollinger
Byton
Atelier
Nikola Motors
Fisker
Expeng Motors
Faraday

I think there's over $15 billion currently invested in these, so that's quite a lot. Some may fail, but as Tesla has shown in it's current markets, get the proposition right and the demand soon follows.

And then let's not forget that JLR may have done a 2nd 180 on a BEV Defender...and it may be coming...

Did a bit of green laning in a FFRR p400e last year most of which was in pure electric mode, sun shining roof and windows open was very nice and did make me think EV for off-road has other benefits especially for wild life spotting etc. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE
