Check grounding continuity and if indeed there is a ground path present.
If there isn't, add a temporary ground path and if everything is correct you can go from there. Maybe swap the switches over?

If the tell tale isn’t working it’s a switch issue or the power supply to the switch.

Thanks all. Based on that, the first port of call is swap the switches round. I should add, it failed intermittently for a while before going permanently u/s. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Sounds like the switch then, hopefully is as they’re cheapest of the switches

When my drivers side wasn't working I swapped the seat bases first to see if that was the problem...turned out that that was where the issue was. This is a very simple way of establishing were the issue might be!
