Check grounding continuity and if indeed there is a ground path present.
If there isn't, add a temporary ground path and if everything is correct you can go from there. You can also check continuity on the live side as well, but make sure power is pruned off and isolated first Are all plugs on the rear of the switch and unde seats clean, dry and fitted securely?  ___\⭐️Lone|Star|State/___

Maybe swap the switches over?

If the tell tale isn’t working it’s a switch issue or the power supply to the switch.

Thanks all. Based on that, the first port of call is swap the switches round. I should add, it failed intermittently for a while before going permanently u/s. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Sounds like the switch then, hopefully is as they’re cheapest of the switches

When my drivers side wasn't working I swapped the seat bases first to see if that was the problem...turned out that that was where the issue was. This is a very simple way of establishing were the issue might be!
