I'm not an Alpine fan personally. (Everyone has their likes and dislikes.)

The only thing I'd be concerned about with those is damage and switch access.
I would be worried that you could damage or scratch the screen by accident, accidents do happen all to easily.

Switch access, if it folds down then that's good if it's easy.
I think an MOT tester would be looking at it very carefully on the obstruction side.
In particular the hazard light switch access.
Flip out has the same problem, only they can easily be put to bed so to speak when not used or on an MOT.
2din fixed screen doesn't have the issue, but like myself am not keen on that set up either.

Everyone has their likes and dislikes but the switch access and placement is a bit of a pain for all of us really whatever unit you have.
The 1din pocket system below will work, but it must be sturdy or you may find a little gap develop in the middle upper joint.

It will cover nearly all of the buttons and the heater controls.
It depends how many buttons you have.
The hazards are obstructed, this might be a problem.
It doesn't seem like a problem day to day, but i am looking to move the hazard warning switch to the end, block the heater vents and move the screen up a bit.
I didn't fully tighten the screws up so the screen can be tilted freely.

It is a very nice unit and have no regrets about installing it, but if alpine made a halo 7 I would swap it out very quickly.

It is another option.

If you don't install the back cover you can still get to the hazards.
You can easily get to 4 of the buttons and the other 2 can still be used ok.
Window and heater controls are still accessable.
It is a little difficult to see as it has no angle adjustment and in a truckcab you can't put the seats back far enough to get a good angle.

I have only used it with Android Auto.

I normally use YouTube Music and that works great, but I have used Spotify and that seemed to work fine.

I had a little bit bother with usb cables with some android phones, but this is the case with all android auto headunits.

Google maps works great
The unit has its own GPS receiver and an antenna that will need installing to get the best reception, but it will also use the GPS signal from the phone. I used it for a few weeks without the antenna installed and it worked fine.

I have not connected the camera up yet, but the screen is very clear and the capacitive touchscreen is nicer to use than the resistive ones on the Pioneer units.

USB provides power and superior SQ.
You’d soon find BT would run batteries down very rapidly. Diesels Lives Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️

USB is required for Android Auto and Apple Carplay.
