so their conversion adds a sort of 'scoop' on top to contain the filter??

It just sort of stick up with a sloping front presumably to reduce the risk if it catching on things.

I've thought about this before, a suitable thickness of open cell foam, like pond filter material or something, could cut to fit snugly inside a snow cowl and may perform quite well. There is a problem where the heater box connects to the wing ducting though, it is a very leaky joint, so would need better sealing to make filter properly effective. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS
