Thanks Vogler - that is great ... sadly the whole ‘thing’ that the clips mount onto pulled off on 2 of my clips so there is nothing to screw into ... but that is a great tip! Poppy - TDCI (Puma) 110XS 2.2 - Camper conversion - see the build here - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56530.html

We have had a few nights out camping at various locations in the UK over the last few months and the 110 is working well ...
The heater is good - tested down to -5 in the Peak district, where the remote was great in that we could turn on the heater when in bed!
The bed its self is great, with the mattress working well - warm and soft, and compresses slightly when the top is down and fits well.
The potty has 5 big stars from my partner ! Its been a game changer for travelling and being available in remote locations - and especially in the rain !
So all in all its come together really well !

We have upgraded the camp chairs to front-runner ones, they are expensive, but fold up so small that they gives us a lot of room in the wagon now. Comfortable and sturdy, well made for the job.
There is a knack to folding them - but it only takes a second or 2 to do and are folded and put away in less time than the other chairs took to fold and put in their bags!

Hi Perigine
the potty is a Thetford Porta Porti Qube - and fits in one of our cupboards - for about £60 its given a new experience to our camping and early morning routine ..
It’s small and compact, doesn’t smell, water tight and easy to use/empty. fresh water in the top half that is used to flush into the bottom half - took me 10 mins to learn how to use it and not had any issues.

it get ’10/10’ from my partner !

After all the hard work setting up Poppy we have just had a 3 week trip across Europe to attend a wedding in Slovenia and give the camper set a good shake down. We were able to re-visit some of the mountain passes that we drove in the past and they were just as enjoyable as we remembered!

We left the UK via Dover and entered France at Calais, touring quickly across to Germany and then Austria into Slovenia, arriving just 2 days after leaving home. We had planed to go quick and come back slow. The 110 was able to eat up the miles almost as quickly as the French tole roads eat money!

The weather was mixed with very hot bright days and occasional thunderstorms with cloudbursts of monsoon proportions of rain. The scenery was truly stunning in Slovenia and the roads were lovely to drive on.
Camping was superb, with several nights at the wedding spent at the top hill in a vineyards, taking in grand vistas of rolling hills and trees. The set up worked extremely well, with no water entering the top even in the most heavy downpours, and the side and end vents ensured that a cool breeze kept up comfortable at night in the muggy conditions.

Cooking was very successful with the ‘wandering’ hose set up allowing us to cook in just about any location we chose. The 30ltr water tank only ran dry once, and that was when expected and easy to refill at a garage.

My partner had done a great job in sorting out the food stocks so we only needed to buy bread and fresh fruit and veg, with the occasional stop off for coffee and cakes ... well we were on holiday!

We only took one campsite for the whole time, with the majority go the camping being ‘wild’ camping in the mountains, but were able to make the most of the readily available camper ‘potty dump’ areas on the main routes.

After 3000 miles, 9 mountain passes and 6 countries we felt the set up was excellent. The pop top and cupboards worked very well, the potty was invaluable for comfort stops and early mornings, the awning was used a few times in anger in the heat and the rain, and the tool kit only used to help a stranded Porsche 4x4 !

The 2.2 engine seemed to need more use of the lower gears than the 2.4, using 2nd for most of the climbs in the Swiss mountains, but never put a foot wrong and had no mechanical issues for the whole trip. Aircon was on most of the journey and we met some great Defender people and passed on info on info for the site.

So ... Poppy passed with flying colours after 18 nights continual use, no major modifications needed and just the usual tweak that gets made to any camper !

Bring on the next trip!

Xmas saw us camping in the UK in deepest Cornwall on the cliffs - my partner and I have a tradition to go camping in a nice location over the festive period when I am not working and this year was no exception.

We started with a 4x4 response job helping at the Falmouth choir event on 24th dec, which proved to be an adventure of its own as our hand held radios seems to affect the central locking of the vehicle and locked us out in the middle of the town !
A quick visit by 'green flag' sorted out the issue and we were soon back on the road.

After the event we made our way to a lovely area we have used before above the cliffs, however due to the winds we moved to a more sheltered area for sleeping that night.

We have recently changed the cooker for a slightly smaller one and this was its test run ... the Cadac Pro Stove worked really well and expanded our repertoire of meals with the addition of hot pates for cooking fish and toast on ... and steaming pots for vegetables to cook with the potatoes / pasta - saving time and fuel.
(Stove - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cadac-Pro-Stove-2...-8-catcorr )

Xmas day saw us on the top of Botallack tin mines and spectacular blue skies with big seas, Cornwall at its best. Lunch was served overlooking the views with numerous people wandering past full of festive cheer ..

The winds picked up again so we made our way back to the shelter of our previous night and we put the awing up for our festive meal, with tree, lights and festive music .. !

That night saw a big storm come in and the winds got up to gale force, so we took the decision to move home and left at about midnight, driving the hour home on empty roads !

The heater was well used over this time keeping the cab warm and cosy, Just after the festive camping it developed a problem starting - a call to a fitter in Plymouth diagnosed the fault and a quick blow though of the fuel line to the tank removed a blockage and we were back on full power (diesel still tastes awful! )

After the new year we went companion camping in Exemoor with a good friend, doing some wonderful walks around the area and sleeping in some lovely spots high above the cliffs.
The heater came in useful in drying our rain coats and boots while cooking dinner.

We even found a lovely 90 that was on display in the tourist office in Lynton !

So all in all - the tweaks go on, the new cooker was a good but - not as wind proof as the previous one but the grill plates, weight and size make up for that, the steaming pots are a must for future camping as a way of saving fuel and cooking time.
The pop top worked well in high winds, but note to self - don't use 2 hand held radios in the vehicle at the same time with out a roof antennae ! Poppy - TDCI (Puma) 110XS 2.2 - Camper conversion - see the build here - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56530.html
