Every time I get a TV Licence demand, I remember that I am being forced each year to pay the salaries of people who relentlessly put out propaganda to which I am totally opposed.

I am forced by the State to pay for the British Brainwashing Corporation, before I can view any of the other channels that fund themselves!

China and Russia could learn a thing or two from our self-styled "liberal" state. Whistle

Back to the topic of this thread, I received my list of shoot dates for next season today.

Looking forward to it, as it will be a blessed relief from the mind-controlling tosh that comes from so many quarters these days.

I cant receive live TV - so therefor cancelled my TV licence - and haven't paid for it since - about 4 years now.. They chased me the first year, and I advised them again that I cant and dont receive BBC, only have Netflix/YouTube and they haven't bothered me since...

But on another note, has anyone had any experience with gun safes in a defender???

I like the idea of a drawer between the wheel arches, but then it will be too high for my pooch to jump in, and being a skittish bear, and at more than 50kg, its not practical for me to be lifting him in and out.

I also like the idea of the box across the wheel arches, but feel this eats up too much room, for the other things we do and need the rear of the truck for (length wise)

Im wondering about a safe/locker box under the rear seats of my 110...

Does anyone know of a manufacturer?? Or is this going to be something I need to fabricate myself - and by myself I mean my mate hahah.
I cant find any pics on Google with what im thinking of... Regards

Are you sure you really need a safe or drawers?

I'm not sure what kind of shooting you are intending doing but I have not found the need for one in the 7 years since I gained my licence. The Police consider a locked and alarmed vehicle as being sufficient for short term security whilst travelling, and if I leave mine anywhere where it's out of sight for any length of time i'll take the fore-end with me.

Providing you have a sufficiently protective slip, your shotgun should be perfectly well protected from damage - mine is stored under a platform under the dog crate. I can hold around 4 shotguns quite easily, with the added benefit of being out of sight. Cost was about £25 to make it.

I guess I don't need a safe... I guess it's my ocd wanting to push it to the max... Be as safe as possible and then some...

My truck has alot of security, more than can fit on the insurance form. And I plan to add more over time...

I can't have a drawer (as much as I'd like one) my pooch struggles to jump in as it is, and he's a big boy, and he don't like being picked up... The truck has a 4" lift, it's a bit of a struggle for us to get in lol
Maybe at a later date... Next hold up is the cost of drawers... I spose I could try and make one.. But again it's nice to know it would lock...

We also bought the biggest crate that would fit in the truck, and it's not ideal for him, I think it's to small even though its a squeeze to get it in between the wheel arches, and he doesn't like it (Yeh I spoil my bear, love him to bits..)

We don't use the crate anymore, he gets the whole rear of the 110 Bow down Regards

Regarding the dog getting in and out of your truck, have you considered a ramp? They're mostly used for older dogs but I think you might find it helps. I lift my spaniel in and out as it is quite a drop to the ground (probably a metre) as his crate is on a raised platform and there's no way he could co-ordinate his leap to get into the crate and not hit a number of painful bits of car on the way in! It's also been cited as a cause of shoulder joint problems apparently.

Oh blimey,.I wish I could lift him in n out. And yes I got a ramp, but again, unfortunately too skittish to use it. I don't think he liked it flexing under his weight... Crying or Very sad
Thanks for the pointers though... Regards
Adam

What an awesome morning I had busting clays yesterday. The wife even came along, thoroughly enjoyed it! Took me about an hour n a half to clean my gun (I gave it a thorough deep cleep, still need to learn how to get the injectors & action out, but that will come)
My Rizzini is second hand, and don't think it has been used or cleaned in a long time. But the barrels are starting to get a mirror finish 😁 😎
Then I had some great grub at my in-laws, walked the dog n then just chilled in the eve. 😁 😎 🤗

The journey to get to the grounds is a nice drive to, about 40 mins, and the latter part through the country and some lane is lush in the Defender.

I wish I got a shot of the Defender n my gun, maybe next time..
