United Kingdom 2007 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Java Black
Hello
I have had a look this evening and cant seem to find any leak (unfortunately) so i think it will need a new clutch, i have got two 4x4 land rover specialists based near me, however i know they will be expensive for the clutch replacement £700 plus, (£800 for my Puma defender two years ago). i have had a look online and have a preliminary quote from MR clutch for £450. has anyone used this firm or any other reasonable firms you can recommend?
Kind Regards

Don’t go cheap. You need someone who knows, and cares about Defenders. We all know they ain’t normal

For the actual parts use Valeo only it is OEM and a lot cheaper than genuine green oval boxed parts. Don’t use anything else. Alternatively you could us custom clutch manufacturers like you guys have other there. They seem to be popular and decent enough but my experience with Valeo is excellent.

Have you tested the clutch against the handbrake?

Any smells? Cheers

I have just had this problem with Miffy.

Best way to describe it is in forth gear when accelerating up a relatively steep slip-road She will accelerate then at peak torque the engine would begin to rev like an automatic gearbox kicking down a gear, meanwhile the vehicle is slowing down, then by babying the accelerator she would get back up to speed.

The cause: Faulty clutch release bearing that ate away the pressure plate springs. No I do not ride the clutch pedal... This is a two year old clutch... Not impressed with Valeo or LR's HD release bearing. Thankfully no damage to the flywheel.

This time I have up'd the ante and bought an LOF clutch and this weekend I have just reached the bedding-in mile mark... Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Honestly it has been a real challenge not to try out the uprated performance clutch and plant the loud pedal. Early signs are good, very very goooooodddddddd Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green

Thank you for your reply’s, sorry to my late update. After further investigation I have found it is the fuel pressure components leaking. Just need to get a repair kit now

Hi
As I seem to be getting some (few) drops of fuel when the engine is on I’m gambling changing the fuel pressure regulator and hopefully the problem will be fixed. I’m currently ordering the Bearmach replacement part now.
Kind regards
