I think you can get versions without that round aperture.
Personally I don't like the round aperture version, doesn't seem to fit in in that location to me but that's just me. Diesels Lives Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️

If anyone knows where you can get that relocation panel without it, appreciate it!

I appreciate I'm digging up an old topic here but has anyone installed this head unit into a 300TDI? Only asking as I am looking to do this but I'm concerned that the screen will interfere with the top of the dash and prevent it from unfolding fully.

I’ve got a 300 and a puma with this head unit, I doubt very much that this unit will work in the std 300 radio location,

While the screen angle can be adjusted, with the acute angle of the 300 din housing I suspect it will clash with the top rail of the dash.

To anyone who has installed this:

A) How the hell do you fit all those wires down behind the head unit!!!! Wish they could all be unplugged.

B) Anyone had problems only having sound from one side? Speakers work fine with old head unit but new head unit I’m getting sound to left speakers and only muffled sound to right speakers.

Anything that can be remedied or duff head unit? https://instagram.com/bentheoandrews

HI Farmerben,

when i fitted mine i had to carefully feed the cables back so they naturally came to rest in the correct place. It is a tricky job and i always cringe when I think I have to remove the dash for any reason. I made it easier by not using the rear fixing lug into the bracket. This helped a bit.

As far as sound issues are concerend, it maybe a trapped wire causing that due to the tight space. Its possible this could have slightly shorted a cable but the fact it is muffled does tend to make that more unlikely. Could be a faulty unit. double check the audio settings first. Thanks! I’ve ordered another wiring loom so will see if that sorts it. Such a pain because everything else is working. https://instagram.com/bentheoandrews

I like that unit a lot. Have you added DVB-T (Digital TV unit to it too?)
It's perfectly possible using the inputs, of course you cannot use that though whilst driving but stationary parked up somewgere you could.

Does it let you use Nav through the phone? Diesels Lives Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️

I haven't bothered with the TV options, not sure I'd ever use it.

Yes you can get sat nav on it from your phone, it comes with a USB cable which I fed through the dash so my phone sits nicely on the shelf on the passenger side. I use Android Auto which gives you the option of using Waze or Google Maps to navigate. As navigation options go I think it's one of the best, certainly much better than the usual LR crud that comes in their other vehicles.

Just fitted to my car. Very pleased with the result. Added bonus that I can still get my fingers behind the screen to access covered buttons Very Happy

That looks ace. Was looking at one for my 300TDI. So has anyone fitted one to an older Defender? 1951 80" S1 2.0

Netherlands 2011 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 X-Tech LE Nara Bronze
Hi all! (First post)

I want to install a z7200dab unit into my defender 2011. I read for models >2012 you would need an adapter cable in this thread. Do I need additional cables for my car, or is it plugged and play?

Thanks,

From memory I had to buy one of these to convert from the Alpine head unit that came in MY14 to the Alpine head unit...

Update: in my 2011 - 90. It was Plug&Play with connectors, no need for any iso adapter.

I do have a question, related to the 1-din mounting case that is provided with the radio.

The gap in the dashboard is to narrow (left and right some metal piece are seem to block) - did you remove these pieces (they don’t come of easy)?. So basically I can’t push the 1 din mount, trough the 1 din dashboard gap. Radio goes trough fine, and is now mounted with the 1-din mounting case from the rear.

Can provide pics if needed.
