Scotland 2016 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 Adventure Phoenix Orange
2 piece half shafts on my late March 15 registration, built in Feb I reckon. Worn/sloppy before 30K, replaced under warranty with genuine one piece shafts at three years old.

The Adventure seems to have been a November build, one piece shafts present.

Local independent has just fitted britpart half shafts to my sister's 2013 90, time will tell I suppose. Current Steeds:

2003 BMW F650 the Hack
2000 Elise
1992 Ducati 888 (no longer in bits, yahoo)

1988 TDR 250 (no longer in bits) and for sale

Hi doublea. That’s really useful info. Am looking at Ashcroft but I don’t suppose you know the part numbers for the genuine
Solid type? I know you got those under warranty but also just wondered what sort of redicullous price these might be from Jlr ? Thank you. Brian 2015 90 XS Santorini Black

LR Cat lists RH as TOB500020 for the shaft (LH TOB500030) and RUC105200 as the flange.

Island 4x4 have the listing below as a single piece RH shaft, Britpart at £42+vat. They include an alternative LR part no LR072976, maybe this is the new part number? Googling this shows Genuine LR part available online from £350-£400!

https://www.island-4x4.co.uk/halfshaft-rea...37447.html

The garage said the warranty work relating to the half shafts on my Utility was a £1,400 job.

My sister was charged £65+vat a side for the britpart assembly, which I understand included the flanges.

From what others have said, maybe these would do? £40 delivered.

This is a post from another thread, that I made in July 2017 after I upgraded my halfshafts. I don't know if prices have changed since. Note that LR now only supplies singld-piece halfshafts for TDCi vehicles.

In case anyone needs to know, and for future reference, the part numbers for the single piece halfshafts have been revised since they were last posted on this forum.

Single-piece halfshaft part numbers:

Short halfshaft - LR072976
Long halfshaft - LR072977

These have superseded FTC3270 and FTC 3271 respectively. The list price for either is a blistering £294.29 + VAT, fortunately my dealer is an excellent place which generously gave me a more substantial discount than I had dared to hope for, bringing them into the same ballpark as other contenders of high quality.

The label on the box nowadays states the country of origin for these, so here is a trivia quiz for anyone who wants to participate (I was quite surprised):

In which country are Landrover's single piece halfshafts manufactured. Is it:

a) The UK
b) The Democratic Republic of the Congo
c) The Republic of Korea (South Korea)
d) Belgium
e) The Czech Republic

Sadly there is no prize for the right answer (except possible a feeling of smugness).

Thanks for all the replies. My local dealer confirmed this morning that the solid shaft is the only one they fit now. Many failures under warranty apparently and so they changed the design. I have decided to book it in and see if my extended warranty will cover it. Nothing to lose. If not then it will be Ashcroft or a direct purchase through JLR and self fit .... if I win the lottery! I'd assumed that the two piece components came from Belgium as they appear to be made from chocolate. Darren

You forgot Swiss chocolate. Rolling with laughter Very Happy

If I remember rightly when I looked at 1 piece halfshafts for the pair it was a eye watering £800+ or so and that's fitted yourself too.

At least with Ashcroft or Genuine 1 piece there are high milages to be had and for most users will be a largely fit and forget except a little greasing for the Ashcroft.

Genuine factory fit 2 piece on mine lasted to about 60k but there was plenty of slop a little while before that as well as 'fretting'.
And there was me thinking that's what serving was for for such componenets to be maintained.

I'd bet on C) then, considering A) is quite unlikely Wink “A Land Rover immobilized is a moral defeat for the driver and bad publicity for the vehicle, […] it's up to you to do justice to your Land Rover!” - Land Rover Driving Technique.
