Thanks for posting this article.
“ The company headed by Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already contracted former Mercedes-Benz offshoot MB tech to engineer the upcoming SUV, and Magna International – which also has Tesla, Volkswagen, BMW and Toyota as clients and also produces the Mini Countryman on behalf of BMW in Europe – to develop the new car's chassis.” Can’t wait to see it Thumbs Up

The Ineos proposal seems interesting. What do you think? https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.indepen...html%3Famp Diesels Lives Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️

Only if they do not call it "Grenadier" as the name of the project is ! "Grenadier" is an unhappy name... "Make love, not war !"

Ineos dude is worth billions but still wants money from the government, our money, to build his vanity project in the UK.

If it were up to me I’d tell him to frack off but he will probably get it if the exodus of the UKcar industry happens.

The owners of JLR, BMW, Nissan, Toyota and other car manufacturing companies in the UK are also wealthy people. As companies they also go to the government every time they have a "new" model for "investment subsidies".
The argument being they need the money to secure new or existing jobs and the future of the employees, blah, blah, blah.
This is regardless of how much profit the company is making.
If they don't get what they want they take their business to another country, like SLOVAKIA.
Where do you suppose JLR are going to build the next Defender? (Clue, it's not in the UK)

So, if Mr Ratcliffe wants to start a new company in the UK building vehicles, that company should get all the subsidies available to it. It genuinely will be creating new jobs in the UK, diversifying the industry and hopefully creating more options for the future, without putting all our eggs in the baskets of the above mentioned established manufacturers.

Good Luck to him, and everyone that works for him. Thumbs Up

Except all the other companies you mention are established volume car manufacturers. Ratcliffe has no form in the industry and is planning to make a niche product as a PR exercise for Ineos.

If the UK's richest man is unwilling to back himself and put in his own money he should go to the bank. Smaller companies like Caterham etc have to do this.

Shame you can't be a bit more positive about him, as at least he is trying to invest a lot of his own money in Britain.

Maybe Sir Philip Green is a better role model?

We will see how much he invests in UK with this project. I hope it will be a lot and with no government hand-outs. Can't see it though.

Interesting to read that he and his fellow directors are moving to Monaco to avoid the taxman and let's not forget when he moved Ineos to Switzerland. Again for tax avoidance.

Been following this project for a while now with keen interest, how this one will compare to the 2020 LR Def really intrigues me.

As for Ratcliffe, the man's done good. He bet his balls on the industrial casino and won big, all power to him IMO.

They’ve announced today that their drivetrain partner is going to be BMW. So I guess that means a BMW engine and gearbox.
