2010 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Orkney Grey

Help please

How on earth do you get into a maxtel spotlight? The mounting screws are just holding the bracket to the casing, there is a small black screw which doesnt come all the way out and there are two small slots on the other edge. Im half way through a job!!! Thanks!

Main reason for asking is there is a white wire and a black wire...is it very safe to assume the black is the earth? Thats all i need to know.....i was to open them up and have a look......but it does beg the question....how do you change a bulb when needed!

If it's just a bog std bulb then it won't matter

Does if i cant get into the unit! Any idea on the white and black wire comeing put the back......they look fab but they aint wired ul yet cos i dont want to get it wrong and blow the bulb before they get to work! ....someone must know........

Surely if it's a standard bulb, it won't matter which is earth and which is live.

Oh really? I do t understand electrics!! I thought i may end up having a permanent live to the casing? No?

I'm no electrics expert but if it was earthed through the casing wouldn't only one wire be coming out? You might be best waiting for more electrical minds to add there thoughts.

The white will be the live the black will be the earth. You could do a continuity test of the two wires to the body to confirm if unsure. Can't help with getting into the light, but posting a photo would be a good idea.

Like I said, if it's just a bulb then it won't matter which way around. Try it on a battery.

yes I agree , only problem is if the bulb earth is not insulated from the body of the lamp

really only way is to check with a multimeter , check for continuity between wires and body of lamp

but they must come apart somehow for bulb change , if they are that hard to get apart or you have to damage them to get apart I wouldn't be fitting them
