Landy Andy; Im too far North for floods, maybe heading further North soon in search of snow
7 core wire is used but only 5 connections are made at ECU connector making 2 wires redundant.. Wire coming out of pin 26 (blk/yl) & pin 14 (wht/prpl) must have Y somewhere along the original loom, I Y'd mine behind the speaker. My code was: (solid colours = trailer light cable) GREEN - white/green WHITE - white/grey BLACK - black/yellow RED - red/green BLUE - white/purple |

My thinking is that by joining 2 of the trailer cores at ECU pin 26 and 2 at ECU pin 14, that effectively is the 'Y' that you mention. or am I missing something...? |

Yeah see what your saying but my method reduces the trailer loom colours and when only working with 5v no need to double up early..
I cut the two wires of that were not going to be used flush with the outer insulation and heat shrink'd making it look nice and hiding the two wires not in use. Under the speaker my BLACK fed the x2 black/yellow's & BLUE fed the x2 white/purple's. Both ways will work.. I used the heat shrink with glue inside between the outer insulation and the wires but didn't have any of the small stuff for the wire soldered connections (the important bit) shame 
Anyways it worked and the electrical fire still hasn't happened, maybe its because I am stood here with the grenade pin pulled from the fire extinguisher  |

It does not matter where you do the join of the two cables, and can depend on whether you have five or seven core cable. Have done it both ways and always worked

Done it!
Ran mine inside the cab (along the back of the pedals, around the transmission tunnel, looped around the handbrake and into the ECU box). Took it for a spin and found some righteous puddles that would previously have stopped it in its tracks...not a problem (so far!). Many many many thanks to everyone who helped - Landy Andy, you are a driving God!!!
