Can be done! Pretty simple, remove roof, sides and rear door, and then fit tailgate and truck cab roof.

Cheers, yes its a hard top not a SW. So, all I need is a tailgate, truck cab roof, rear section with windows and a roof liner?
Do I have to change the log book for any reason? |

The tailgate will need some lugs welding on to the rear cross member to hinge on,Unless you are going to hinge it from the body to open sideways. 2005 Td5 90 XS

Before you are going to build a pick-up. Drive one. As I liked the looks off my sheep carrier. (I could still smell them) But I found there is not enough space to sit nicely behind the steering wheel. I am just 1.8 m so not very tall.
I changed it to a hard top. Roel 1984 90 2.5 na Diesel - RR V8 (1994-2001) 1997 Camel Trophy Discovery 300TDI (2001-2009) 2005 G4 Discovery III 4.4 V8 (2008-2018) It's gone but it still hurts. 2003 90 Td5 (2009-now) |

Hi Lamby
Shame as I've just changed my 2011 truck cab to soft top, but just sold all the bits. Like Roel says make sure you drive one for a bit first as although I loved the look of mine as a cab it didn't work for me at all. I miss the heat from the heater, but that's it! Stating the obvious somewhat, you cant leave anything in the back without the risk of it going walkies (I live in a nice area aswell!) and by the time all your stuffs in the cab, there's no room at all, plus with the full headlining your seat has to be further forward so leg room is an issue even for shorty's like me ![]() |

Thanks for the above replies
I've recently sold my old pick-up and I miss it, hence looking for another one. I've got a nice, clean, tidy low miles hard top and could just use that, but I'm a bit anal about it and would rather have something I'm not too worried about, the old pick up I have was ideal, it only cost me £1k plus about the same again in parts to make it road worthy. I just want a hack to go fishing in, bum around the village etc. I do like the looks of a pick-up but take on board about what you're saying about the space and practicality element, if I end up buying this ex-fire station 90 h/t it might end up staying a hard top for a while, it's either buy another landy that's slightly different or buy a car that I' not worried about. |

Lambley, well I've just done it the other way round, pickup to SW (sons 90, he needed the extra seats for his mates!). As other posts say, hard top to pickup is an easy job to do.
If you decide to go down this route, and are after some bits, I've got a pickup cab (good nick with headlining), tailgate, spare wheel carrier etc., everything you would need to do the job, from the conversion I've just done. If you are interested, let me know - couple of pictures below, also one of pickup with tonneau cover fitted, keeps everything dry! (also for sale). All the bits are now off the landy and dry stored. Cheers Andrew, would you hang on to them and give me first dibs, pm me a price if you can too.
The ex Fire Service 90 I was looking at has just been sold, no surprise really as it'd only done 35k miles, good for a H reg vehicle! Your truck looks perfect for what I'm after too, lovely looking thing, if I can fine a blue one that matches - your on! |

Yeah, no worries, the bits aren't going anywhere soon, i was going to sell them come spring time - just let me know when/ if you're in a position to want them - guess it all depends on you finding a decent truck - Good luck with the search!
