Im being a bit hypocritical as mine have suddenly packed in as well. My fuse is blowing everytime I turn on the ignition. http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic21168.html

First easy check is the fuse. Then..

Faulty relay?

Park switch on wiper motor?

Wiper dashboard stalk/lever/switch?

Wiper spindles seized (the bit that protrudes through the bulkhead which the wiper arm fastens to?

Wiper motor seized?

Also, check to see if the spindles on the outside of the car that the wiper arms attach to are moving. Over time the spines inside the wiper arm fixing point can wear, so the spindles rotates but the arms don't move. This would mean that you need new wiper arms, but usually only one would wear, not both at the same time.

Mine did this and it turned out to be one of the wheel boxes that the wiper arm bolts to which had seized. I decided to replace the motor and both wheel boxes for brand new genuine ones and the difference was amazing! Well worth the £150 ish from the main dealers as the wipers now work like a normal car when they were really slow before.

A clean and grease usually has the same effect!
